Mutant Epoch (like Gamma World) NOW AVAILABLE!!

Post by Starslayer72 »

YEAH!!!

This is finally available after many delays.

Mutant Epoch.
It looks like Gamma World or Goblinoid Games- Mutant Future.
The art is very good. I ordered it- so I'll let you know how the actual game play is.

It does look interesting. I've not heard of it before this, so I hope you give us a review when you get it! :D

I dont know, i read the sites info and it seems a little... off.
Having collected nearly every TSR Gamma World release.
Heck i bought the Dragon archive so i could have access to all the GW articles.
I would like to read a good review and/or paw through a copy before i bought it.
My gut reaction is its a little off the mark.
Mutant Future is pretty close but not quite GW, i do use MF stuff in my GW.

Over all you have my curiousity but i need more info before i would bite.
Please don't beat me.

Dude...its a cool looking post apocalyptic game that someone says is "like" GW.

The guy that created this has spent years doing so, is a real gamer like us, is a talented artist, and wants to provide the public with a fun rpg. all noble motives imho and worthy of our support.

You never know...you may just find yourself having fun with something new.

I for one, look forward to reading the stuff and hope it is a success!

Support a fellow gamer...or buy all the collectibles from a corporation. We've been down that road before. If GW is what you want I'm sure there is a corporation more than happy to give you "real" certified Gamma World brand with new improved collectible cards included...gotta catch em all!

My vote is for Mutant Epoch!

When I say its "like Gamma World" or Mutant Furure- those are just by looking at the website & previews. Its the closest thing I know to compare it to.
Id like to see a new post-apocalyptic game. Not that Gamma World collectable card crap either.
I saw the art on the site and it looks good. I also downloaded the preview. I liked it- so i ordered it.
If you want more info- look at the site. Im not selling the game or getting a commission. I just wanted to let fellow gamers know about a new game.

When I get it & look it over- I'll post what I think.

I would like to read a good review. I really thought i made that clear.
I read what was on the site, and i am curious to know more.
I am however on a limited budget and buying new games blindly aint happening.

@ Joe , you really dont need to jump down my throat because i expressed some disagreeing points to the original poster.
I suggest you maybe read and comprehend what i wrote before blinding attacking.

I will point out 3 things you got completely wrong...
1. This is a Troll Lords games forum, aka C&C makers. why would i visit a site if i didnt like their games?
2. I like TSR Gamma World. the distinction being TSR not WOTC.
3. Open thy mind and free yourself to explore new horizons, Dont write off old stuff because it is old. judging books by their cover pot? I read new stuff and old stuff. dont assume things you have no idea about.
Please don't beat me.

Oh DH
I'm just trying to liven things up and get folks excited. Didn't mean to beat you. Please don't let my fiery words get you so hot and bothered that you start speaking in numbered lists. ;)
The next thing you know I will be responding in numbers and subtitles just to one up.
If you think thats bad pulpit pounding you should see when soemone tries to metagame. the humanity!

Its just as gamers we seem very quick to pass on things out of hand. I have found I can miss some real pearls in the mud if I am not careful.

It looks like a cool game, let's check it out!
Theres a free download.

I have been dying for a post apocalyptic tromp.
This seems to be something worth looking into but...

The page count is a bit big for my tastes. I prefer my books in doses under 200 pages. Not that I judge the book by the page count mind you...its just a matter of comfort while reading.
I don't do pdfs unless its from FGG so a book too heavy is not fun to hold in my lap. Text books kill me...good head rests but not fun to sit and read.

But I digress...Mutant Epoch baby!

I think I'll pick one up...but I have never given a review. I doubt I would be as good as Omote or Moriarty so I'll leave that to the experts.

Since this is a book that I do not play on purchasing, I would love to see a review. So Joe, please post your thoughts. I like the post-apoc mut genre, but I do not get to play it very often at all. In fact, it's been probably 10 years since I played Gamma World. However, Mutant Epoch looks really cool in it's presentation. Now, what do the guts look like?

Well, yeah. That one will be awesome and I'll buy one when it comes out!

The question is: are there any other things worth borrowing from GW-like games to put into my GW.

The art looks awesome. Hopefully the system measures up as well. I never played Darwin's World(D20 as I recall), but one or two pdf books have been released for Savage Worlds as of late. I intend to give those a look. There's also one or two versions of Savage Gamma World out there on the home brew market.

Well I finally broke down and took my own advice and ordered a book on Amazon!

Did anyone else and what do you think?

I won't be able to ready mine until I have a lull in projects but I'm looking forward to it.

The art is cool. That poster art is very "Fallout"-y, which I like

A totally irresponsible first impression. (Note: going by the art only.) It appears more like zombies in space than what Gamma World is loved for.

Like I said, totally irresponsible and probably ill-advised. ;)

Indeed this is a great book!

I have yet to read one word of game mechanics but I suggest this book for any post-holocaust game.
The feel of grit and survival is all there but I have no idea how the rules read, or play so far. I have been too enamored just checking out art and reading random entries as I peruse the book.
I do not like the small font but this book is easily worth the price for artwork and mining.

Any try to play this yet?

The first issue of Excavator Monthly is up for sale at rpgnow for the PDF ($3.50)and and lulu.com for the print copy ($9.99). We are also happy to report that we are on track to be releasing monthly issues on the 15th of each month, or around that date depending on external issues such as RPGnow and Drivethrurpg's issues over the last few days... which have been corrected.

I am a bit anxious to see the print proofs from lulu as far as the spine width and writing we have on there. If there are issues, but so far we have been very lucky with the print on demand service they offer. The print versions are in black and white, while the color pdf versions much more colorful and fully linked.

Here is the sell copy we are using for issue 1. In the next post I am going to add some art highlights for eh 40 page magazine.

Welcome adventurer! This is the first issue of Outland Arts’ entirely The Mutant Epoch focused magazine, Excavator Monthly.

Included in this inaugural issue are articles on GM rewarded Experience Factors, another on how to handle multiple player characters, a character generation technique: the Double Barrel System, a word on some gaming blogs and podcasts, new relics: liquid flesh and the net gun, 2 NPCs and 3 mutant creatures: the creeping digester, jaw hog, and howling eviscerator. There is also a short story entitled Demon in the Depths, a write up on The Mutant Epoch website, preview of Pitford: Gateway to the Ruins, and a treasure table. Finally, an extensive article on Spiderborgs as NPCs, hostile foes, or player characters.
Excavator Monthly is the official magazine for The Mutant Epoch milieu, covering the TME RPG, fiction, art and more. Not using the Outland System? No worries, there is a ton here that any post apocalyptic GM can utilize.

This issue includes:
2 NPCs
3 New Creatures
2 new relics
1 new NPC or PC race (Spiderborgs)
1 short story
1 Treasure Table
1 Character generation system (Double Barrel)
19 illustrations
40 pages
