World of Aihrde Maps a Poll

Post by Troll Lord »

As many of you know we have put a wrap on the World of Aihrde Cradle of the World Maps. Peter did a brilliant job on this puppy. I am very excited and inspired to get back to some Aihrdian material.

This product will be launched in the next 24 hour as a high-rez PDF. The final file (the one you will download) will be 55 x 36 inches, 300 dpi, full color. Eventually updated to allow people to zoom in to areas they are looking for through bookmarks etc etc. The pricing here will be standard 20% off print cover price.

We are presently looking at a 24.99 price tag for the print package (I'm fixing the final price today/tomorrow). We've explored several options and would like to toss them out to you folks to see what you think.

Thank you in advance for the feedback.

Which options do NOT chop up the adventuring area for the "A" series?

Plus, can you guys laminate? How much would you charge for doing so? If so I want the single, largest map, laminated, as well as the 9 sections, also laminated.

You do your own printing, right? So you can provide "all the above"? Plus how about the laminating?
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

We outsource laminating and UV coating. The size governs everything there. And the coating would of course depend upon the manner in which it is presented. You can fold Laminated paper, you can roll UV coated or laminate, but you cannot fold UV coated.

This is all terribly tiresome! haha

And the larger maps we have to outsource. The 9 pack are done in house and that was the original intent. Useful in that the CK can access each map as needed but not as breath-taking and looking at the full copy of Peter's map, I hate to chop her up.

I would prefer the smaller 9 map process simply because I do not need to look at the whole world map if the game occurs within a single county, city, or whatever. It makes tracking and keeping perspective easier, without needing some Arthurian table just to look at the shebang.

Could you check into offering the large size, laminated? Primarily I am like Serl, I want the 9 maps for day to day gaming. The large laminated one I want for display purposes.

I like the idea of the 9 maps, but I'm also a big fan of the two larger maps. I say, go big or go home. :D

I would like 2 poster-sized maps best. Peter's work should probably not be chopped up too much.

HOWEVER...

...that said, I would also like getting the 9 maps as well. That way I can have them in multiple formats. The 9 maps would be easier to use at the gaming table I think, but not look as awesome.

Throw me in the camp of the One UV coated map (Rolled for shipping) and the 9 section map.

It appears that many people would buy both.

I didn't use the poll as it doesn't allow two options. ;)

Like many here, I have many plans for these maps. I really don't need a poster sized one, as I am having it printed on vinyl; go to ebay and search "custom vinyl banner" and you will see that you can have this printed 3x4' for about 30 bucks with free shipping. That baby is going on the wall. For my printed copies at the game table, I am sticking with the 9 separate maps. For specific sections, I will just zoom in and print the sections I want out of photoshop, with my homebrew locations added in. Really looking forward to this one.

For playability, the nine small is the only way to go, IMO.
The huge honker does sound so sweet, but it's almost wall paper at that size!

I voted the 9 options, but would be happy with the most economical way of publishing the maps.

The 9 maps would almost certainly be more helpful at my table. Too much bigger than that, and I'd crowd my players out of space.

But just for the Ooo and Ahhh factor, I wouldn't be opposed to an option for a 1 or 2 piece map that I could put up on the wall.

You know the more I think of it, chopping it into 9 smaller maps may be too much chopping. I would rather see it quartered into four sections, or simply two larger maps. I agree with O; we shouldn't chop up Petes fine work too much. Any which way TLG goes though will be fine, since the print shop and I have a date already. ;)

yeah it's so hard to decide.
4 medium/big ones might be a good mix of use-ability at the table and WOW factor....
this is a good problem to have, I suppose!

I want the 1980 1"x1" maps. Next time a tornado rips through here and kills my power I want to put it together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Yeah, hold off just for a few. I'm getting all these prices worked out.

Chances are I am going to offer the 12 x 18 maps direct order only. And then ship through the retail channels the larger items. But the shipping on the 12 x 18 will require a special box, etc. Now once I've done that I can perm. set the price and then offer the bundle of PDF/Print copies.

Working this problem now.

Alright folks. Until we transform the cart system this method will have to do.

You can order the combo pack here: Aihrde Cradle of the World.

Thanks,

It does say you need a; You Send It account, so don't know how that is going to work.

Holy crap. I just caught that. I thought it was some sort of typo. There really is a file sending service called You Send It. The free account allows up to 100mb; anybody know what the file size is on this? Otherwise you have to pay to have an account!

I had to pull the trigger, and pick up the digital version. Wow, this is a sweet map. TLG is going to be hard-pressed to put that much detail on a print version of the map right? I'm talking about you Darkenfold (amongst others). There are just so many names and little details. Is it really possible to do such small detail on printed maps? I want to see it.
