I'm in tonight, but I can't play past 10. Got a big project that's due in the morning and naturally, I haven't touched it all weekend.

CZ Session XXXIII “Map of the Lightless Lake”!
The adventurers take time to rest up a bit and enjoy the wine and rations, while studying and discussing the map of what appears to be a large underground reservoir with beaches and 4 huge columns to support a ceiling. Treasure is noted on one of the beaches. They also read the note from Gord, who says he did not get the opportunity to find this lake and the treasure.
The group decides to exit the maze and then find the entrance down to the lake. They explore some caverns and passageways and find a natural rock circular stairway that descends down about 2 or 3 levels.
From the stairs they can see the sand beach and water at the edge. The cavern immediately around them is huge, but very dark and the water looks black. As they gaze out, they can barely see a large column that goes from the water up to sheer darkness. They cannot see the ceiling of the cavern.
The group decides to cross the edge of the lake to another beach indicated on the map. They utilize the flying carpet to pull their boat. Snizz and Darby ride the carpet pulling Bruno and Dhorric in the boat. Snorri uses his boots of levitation and holds onto the carpet. Backar dons his cloak of the manta ray. Midway across, the party sees the water ripple and part of a huge form swallows up Backar and swims away. They catch of glimpse of what they think might be a tail or perhaps a large tentacle.
They make it across to the other beach and see only bones, rock and shells scattered around the sand. The PCs then continue to the next beach where the maps shows a treasure symbol. As the get closer they see a pirate ship up in the sand. It looks battered with cannon holes in the side as well as some fire damage to the masts.
Suddenly, something large crashes out the water and a body comes hurtling through the air onto the beach. It’s Backar spat out of the water monster’s gullet. The carpet lands and the boat is tied, and Snorri administers some health to Backar who is only slightly injured. The group walk towards the ship noticing broken crates and skeletons scattered in the sand. They then gaze up to the crow’s nest and see a man waving at them. Suddenly the skeletons rise up and advance while some ugly slow walking men pour out of a large hole in the side of the ship. Wait, they are not men . . . but ZOMBIES!!
Contents of maze cache:

Re: Rhuvein's Sunday Night CZ game
Hi Rhu!
Just a reminder that I might miss the game this week, as I'll be on a company-mandated team-building outing to Galveston. It will depend on what time I get back and how much energy I have after drin... team building all weekend.
May 5 should be good, though. I'll be settled into my new digs in Wisco by then.

Re: Rhuvein's Sunday Night CZ game
Hi guys!
I'm all settled in at the new place, after a grueling two-day drive and a full day of unpacking. The new pad has hi-speed internet, so I'm ready to roll. Now we just need Rhu's boss to cooperate.

CZ Session XXXIV “Navigating the Lightless Lake while Backar goes for a swim”!
The adventurers prepare for battle as the skeletons arise and the zombies come walking out of the ship. A terrific combat ensues with the cleric failing to turn the skellies and zombies. The PCs begin to fight the skeletons hand to hand scoring some good hits, but the action stirs up some giant snapping turtles. The wizard casts a web spell on zombies slowing them down. The turtles score a few hits, but the fighters avoid major damage and in turn pound the turtles good.
A ghast appears, but the cleric is able to turn the creature avoiding a serious threat to the party. One zombie is able to escape from the web and join the combat, but the adventurers eventually prevail to defeat all the monsters. Occasionally splashing in the water alerts the party to the underwater terrors that appear to be watching them on shore.
The group explores the remains of the pirate ship finding some treasure. One box is overflowing with doubloons. Another box contains items unknown (at this time).
End session.
XP = 366
The Players:
Aramis played the dwarven wizard/cleric known throughout the world as Snorri Ironbeard.
Jaybird played Snizzlebus Rootbottom, the most serious gnomish rogue/illusionist.
Aergraith as Darby of Scragwick, human wizard extraordinaire.
The fierce and noble warrior, Dhorric the Great.
Backar, the mighty half-giant knight.

Hopefully we will have a game for you to miss!
Wait, now that you came back to the woods, why would you have to run off to the woods??
