A couple of weeks ago we had an "off night" from our regular weekly PF campaign (due to a couple of players out that night). We decided to run Cleopatra Station as a one-nighter. Everyone took about 10 to 15 minutes to put their characters together and we were off. Everyone had a complete blast. My favorite player quote at the end of the night, "That was the most fun role playing I think I've ever had."
There is a LOT to be said for rules light gaming, and experienced players, especially grognards, embrace this. X-plorers, for my group, proved how enjoyable an RPG session can be when you remove the 400+ page rulebooks from the table, put away the minis, and just *have fun!*
X-Plorers!

SWEET!!!
Re: X-Plorers!
It really was sweet, and my players are bugging me to run another session. So...if we can put a rush on The Deadly Dawn, my players would much appreciate it.Coleston the Cavalier wrote:SWEET!!!
But, seriously, the rules-light ambiguity of the character classes (and simple multi-classing mechanic) allowed my players to come up with all manner of curious back stories. Case in point, our "Scientist" was a dishonorably-discharged Fleet doctor who turned to a life of drug dealing (and drug *crafting*) and pimping after leaving the service. Yes, he was a "doctor," but his worldview was anything but. He even dressed the part and lamented upon having to remove his animal-print pimp hat in order to get into an enviro-suit.
Good times, good times.
