Did I miss this rule anywhere?

Post by REHowardfanatic »

Can anyone point me towards the rules for Item Saving Throws? They are mentioned several times, but I haven't seen them.

What there is on saving throws for magic items in the M&T is on page 89, 3rd printing.

This gets a bit more in depth treatment in the CKG under equipment wastage. The specific call out for expert or magic items is on page 154, upper right paragraph on the page.

Personally I think the umpteen pages of Item Saves in the CKG are a big mistake.

Here is a small. simple table reminiscent of 1eD&D that I use. It runs on simple prime & secondary & used with common sense or the rule of cool on what should & shouldn't require a save, it works great & doesn't take 8 pages to explain/look up.

Thanks to both. I can't believe I missed that!
I had just house ruled it as a flat 15 if the CK felt a save was warranted. I love the old-school table, though.

I use a system inspired by the AD&D DMG, but I may have gone into a little more "depth" than needed explaining things like what a fall means (ie, how to determine difficulty.)

I'd say calling it a typo is a fair assessment in that Battlefield Dominance is missing from the list but included in the descriptions as well.

I thought that might be the case. I was creating Arthur and his bunch, so I wanted to be sure.
So now I have done the best of Robert E. Howard, King Arthur, a sprinkling of Robin Hood, Elric, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser...
Next up?
Lord of the Rings!
I haven't had this much fun creating characters since Middle School. Yikes.

Indeed. But, still... the good news is this isn't Facebook.
