Post by Tadhg »

Yahoo is reporting that Steve Jobs has died. Can't get any other confirmation at this time on the net.

Yeah...ABC News site has the obit as well...two page article. A bit surprising...thought he was in better health than he apparently was.

That was morbid Kim. Cute...but morbid. ;)

I hear that system operates on a big G network though.

Love him or not, this guy was a major force in the technology world and, especially the last few years, almost singlehandedly changed the way that most end users experience tech. RIP Steve.

I seem to remember hearing he had health issues a little ways back, but I didn't realize it was this serious. :(

He's been fighting pancreatic cancer for 2 years. The 1-year survival rate is about 25% and by 5 years the rate drops to 6%. In short, he wasn't going to survive this disease for long.

Quite sad. I will say, the first computer we had at my home was an Apple. We got an Apple IIC with a monochrome monitor (orange only) just before Christmas 1 year.

The first thing I actually got for it that Christmas was a game from Infocom called "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"

Played the heck out of that along with another game by Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI) called "Phantasie"

So thank you Mr. Jobs for the memories and God Bless!

Perhaps, you might take a stroll down memory lane in honor of Apple and Mr. Jobs today, so for those of you interested, I offer the fantastic Infocom text adventure game is available for free in a much updated flash version over at the BBC with graphics and other such things. Remember the 80s, Remember Apple, Here is the link:
