Re: Swashbuckling RPG: Honor + Intrigue Pre-Orders have begu
Okay so here are some characters. But first, I CANNOT believe I didn't post a mockup of the cover yet! My bad! You can see it on the Pre-Order page as well, but I should have had one in the thread too.

And now for some Characters. These will likely be included as pre-gens in an adventure at some point (maybe I'll re-tool them to add the visual Advantage Track). Currently, I don't think I'll have room for FULL page character sheets in the book- so the sample characters (there are dozens) will probably be 3 or so per page with 1-2 of them illustrated per page.

I'm a huge fan of swashbuckling games.
What's the rules like. How do they compare to C&C etc?

The rules are based on the Barbarians of Lemuria (BoL) game engine and are similar to those.
The core mechanic is roll 2d6 + Quality + Career for non-combat actions. 2d6 + Quality + Combat Ability for Combat actions. If the result is 9 or greater (after modifiers) the action succeeds.
You may also have a Boon or Flaw (or situation) that confers a Bonus Die or Penalty Die to a roll, where you'd roll 3 dice and drop one of them.
The beauty of the Careers system is you can do anything that career could reasonably do (up the the GM). So if you've got the Hunter career, you could track, move quietly, skin an animal, set a snare, etc. You don't have separate "skills" for each of those things (though each may use a different quality). You can still specialize in something, like with the "Sneaky" boon that gives a bonus die to any roll involving stealth, however.
FYI, the copy is now in the hands of Layout!
