Minaria Campaign Setting?

Post by Demiurge »

I recently happened upon this blog page discussion of fantasy maps. In it, the author shows a picture of the map of Minaria from the game Divine Right. I was struck by how awesome a campaign world this could be using just the map alone!

A quick search revealed this site. The author has compiled background info from the game itself and from a series of Dragon articles about the game from back in the day.

Minaria is quite cool. Have really wanted to run a campaign in that setting for 15+ years now.

There were quite a few articles on the setting in old issues of Dragon magazine and the game traces back to the 1970's, although never as an actual RPG.

I think most of that material can be found reprinted in one of the links above.

I just found some info on Board Game Geek about a sequel/expansion game that was never published: Scarlet Empire. The map image isn't very large, but if you save the image you can zoom in enough to make out additional details.

That's an awesome find! Don't know that I'm up for making a whole campaign out of it, but possibly some one-shots.

For what it's worth, I'm going to be running a game of Divine Right at GaryCon in March.
