I Think It's Time...

Post by Traveller »

...for me to go. I wish I could say "it's just fatigue" but that would be a lie. The reality is that the game stopped being fun some time ago. I'm tempted to say the years spent collecting errata are the sole reason why the game is no longer fun. While errata did have a part in this, errata compilation is a minor thing. Consistency. That's the big issue; one I have touched on already in another thread and thus do not need to repeat.

I will pop by on occasion to keep up. Will I come back? Perhaps, but I don't know what the future holds. :(

Sorry to hear this because you often have nice things to contribute to our discussions. On the other hand, if it's not fun then why are we doing this? Good luck and hopefully you'll be back to visit!

Hopefully not a permanent situation. But, if the fun is gone I do understand.

I hear you. I haven't games in a decade, mostly because of people problems than game problems. I have been hanging around, in a forum type setting and still buying games that I like, which really is C&C and the two from Brave Halfling games. It has always been a hobby that I liked but I never forced myself for a, "Just because." I got my mojo back and hope to be a little more successful, with the right people, next year.

Good luck to you.

If you read this, Traveller, where you going from here? Is it C&C you're "retiring" from, or all rpgs in general? If it's just C&C, what are your gaming interests now? Are you going to be haunting other gaming forums, and if so, which ones?

I wish you well, good sir. You're one of the good guys, and I hate to see you go. :(

'Tis melancholy that fills this thread and I cannot help but think you are all sailing off on the White Ship bound for the Uttermost West.

As you depart here are three songs for you to enjoy, best wishes and may the memories of the game fill you with joy in the new year and the years to come.

Rgr on that!

Traveller, sorry to hear it, and you'll be missed. Hope time away brings the joy back, but if it doesn't I hope you find something that you do enjoy.

Serl, you too will be missed if it comes to you bowing out. I've always enjoyed you monsters and other ideas you shared. However, if it isn't fun, then I understand needing to step back.

I hate it when folks leave because the game isn't any fun.

I'll admit that sometimes I get fixated on one game and ignore other boards for a while, but usually it's just absent-mindedness and not outright unhappiness. It's a whole other matter when folks decide that the board isn't friendly enough, or the game isn't what they hoped it would be, or something similar. Particularly when we're talking about posters with lots of time spent and hundreds of posts made.

Just a bummer when folks decide to leave. :(

If I had to guess I'd say it's just burnout. Though it's difficult for me to imagine that I would get "burned out" on "D&D" (any of its versions, clones, or variations - fantasy role playing, if you will), I do understand the feeling in regard to other hobbies and endeavors.

Wow, I finally manage to have the time to get back here and now people are leaving?

Is it my breath? ;)

Seriously, as noted above its all about fun. If you're not having fun then life is too short to keep doing something you're not enjoying.
