Pocket Game Master released!

Post by mmtbb »

Well, I thought I would let you all know that Pocket Game Master was just released to the android market. If you have an android device, go check it out.

"Pocket Game Master (PGM) is a full featured android app tailored to Game Masters and players of almost any role-playing game.

While fully functional for players, Pocket Game Master really shines in the hands of the Game Master. PGM allows the game master to not only create a complete adventure right from their device, but to run that adventure from the device as well!
Of course, players can use this for their character sheets, map dungeons, jot down dungeon notes, and use the dice."

Best of all you can network between devices and interact in real time through Wifi or Bluetooth!!

FEATURES:
-Make, view and save 20 character sheets at a time.
-Interactive stats allowing for in-game use, like tapping on damage to roll damage dice.
-Write an adventure from scratch, add pictures, music, web content and more.
-Basic dungeon map creating with unlimited undo/redo even AFTER saving.
-Initiative roller
-Complete dice bag
-Ability to customize most input to match your campaign. Including stat names, stat bonus, feat/skills/spell lists, classes, effects, "to hit" and "initiative" dice, just to name a few.
-3 user countdown fields and 3 user saving throw fields per character. This allows for deeper campaign customization.
-Full help manual
-Networking to share character's info instantly. For example, if a monster hits a player for 3 damage, the Game Master can input the damage once, and the player's sheet will automatically update!

***I even added a specific feature thinking of you C&C players. If you tap and hold any attribute name, it will turn blue, thus signifying a Prime attribute. ;-)

Here are some screen shots:

It is $2.99. However, not available on Amazon Marketplace which means I will have to find a way to get the APK and sideload it. Yay. :(

Couple of Q's.

Save up to 20... What format and can I save more if I dump to external drive?

The maps, can they be saved as a jpg or other compatible format for printing/storing via a PC?

Thanks. Looks like a good pgm.

Looking forward to this. However, I'll wait a little bit until the bugs are worked out. But then, consider me a purchaser!

Dead Horse,
Yes, sorry I should have put that it is $2.99. There is a free demo to see if it is something you want. You can do many things with the demo none the less. As a side note, it's a funny world we live in. To me, $2.99 almost seems free. When I released this 12 years ago for the desktop and windows mobile, it was $14.99. Phone or not, I would have never believed 12 years ago I would be releasing this for $2.99 today.:)

serleran,
It is not on Amazon, only Android market. Sorry

Arduin,
-You can have up to 20 characters loaded at once. They are stored in a very compact file less than 10kb. You can save to your heart's content and just load the files you need.
-Yes, you can save your map as a png, about 10-15kb each.

Thanks for your comments.

That looks sweet!
I too, think $2.99 is a very good price for something so useful.
I also don't have a smart phone and no frame of reference :-D
But still, 3 bucks? BARGAIN.

Just downloaded the demo to have a play with it on my Archos 70IT.

Looks really good, nice and polished. Just a couple of quibbles though:
  • On a tablet, the forced Portrait mode is a bit of a pain; what are the chances of a landscape version?
  • Whilst I appreciate that the Demo is just that, a Demo; I couldn't find a way to hide the Feats and Skills tab/list. Since I prefer C&C to standard D20, can this be done?

I have a tablet too. Landscape is a must. For the phone also. Pretty standard practice for 'Droid apps.

Perhaps in the future I can create a landscape layout. I'll put that on the list. Believe it or not, that can be a big undertaking to make sure it works with all devices.

Right now the feats and skills tab cannot be hide. However, I could create the ability to change the names to what you want. For instance, change the list names to weapons and armor. Maybe you could make a list of all the special abilities for all C&C classes, then add the ones specific to your class and level?

Perhaps make the Feats tab editible so that C&Cers can change it to "advantages?" The same could go for the Skills tab.

In all honesty, I would appreciate it if those tabs could be removed, but that would likely lead to more work. Allowing a rename would be OK. I'd probably go with Quirks and Abilities rather than whatever and this other.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will add the ability to change the names of the tabs in the next release. The tabs must stay because of their importance in many other roleplaying games. Every game has lists of some sort. Because of its versatility it is beneficial to many gamers

This looks awesome!

I'll check it out when I have a chance probably sometime this weekend. Following the development of a couple of apps for Android -- yes, I know it can be a huge PITA. You're willingness to consider options is appreciated even if such things do not come to pass.

The ability to change names of the tabs is great.

A long term goal of doing a 'tablet' version to support landscape would be nice to see but given the general lack of such things, I'll certainly take what I can get. :) Who knows, it might be more practical with the release of Android 4.0 (ICS). My understanding is that ICS is 'supposed' to help bridge phone and tablet with a single OS and generally reduce / eliminate 'fragmentation'.

:)

Ok ... just started playing with demo a bit and it looks fine and is very usable in portrait mode. I don't think I care if it is ever made in landscape. :)

I will be picking this up this weekend once I've messed around with the demo enough.

Just released v1.06

You can now change the tabs to whatever names you want. Go to the Campaign tab and make changes there. Make sure to save the campaign file and you are good to go. The last loaded campaign file is always loaded on startup.

Okay, I bought the paid version, but I am having trouble. It force closes on my phone (MyTouch 3G Slide). I've side-loaded it onto my Kindle Fire, but it says "This application has not been registered" and closes.

Help!

Well, a Mac is not required to develop iPhone/iPad apps. Having one just makes it a bit easier. There are at least 5 methods of developing iPhone apps on a Windows box that I've heard of.

I'm not trying to power-sell you on developing an iPhone version. I fully accept that such a version won't be developed. I'm just saying that not owning a Mac isn't a deal-breaker for developing it.

Nice app.I like the ability to share maps with your players though half my players use IPhones. It would be great if the app could set up a local server to share maps over a Web browser.there is a already a app that does this but it doesn't do the other stuff your app does
