Just a point of minutia
Just a point of minutia
Does anyone know why the TL's decided to reverse the bonuses of mithral & adamantite from the D&D 1st Ed. Just curious is all.

1ed Pg 164 DMG
"Armor of +3 bonus Is of special meteorite iron steel, + 4 Is mithral alloyed steel, + 5 is adamantite alloyed steel."
C&C M&T pg 89
"ADAMANTINE: Adamantine is found in meteorites and, as a rarity, in the mines ofdwarves.Weaponsfashionedfromadamantine provideanatural+4 bonus to hit and damage. Adamantine armor provides a natural +4 to armor class. This is not considered a magical enhancement. This bonus is added to saving throws versus destruction.
MITHRAL: Mithral is a rare silvery, metal that is lighter than iron but just as hard. It is found only deep in the earth and extracted with great difficulty. Weapons fashioned from mithral provide a natural +5 bonus to hit and damage. Mithral armor provides a natural +5 to armor class. This is not considered a magical enhancement. This bonus is added to saving throws versus destruction."

1st Ed DMG (page 164, armour bonuses) and pretty much all D&D Core rules after, that talked about the 2 materials. Not a big deal at all. I was just curious why TL swapped them after 30 years of related material.

Mirhrol is a pretty cool name/word though. It must be used.

Re: Just a point of minutia
Actually, Mirhrol does sound badass... maybe it's some orcish alloy of brass and ... something magical... so it's like evil orcish mithral/adamantite stuff.

Re: Just a point of minutia
I would speculate that the TL crew merely wanted Mithral to be the best of the non-magic armors.
