More Errata

Post by Peter »

Throughout the PHB & M&T there are a bunch of "save vs. and save versus". They should be changed to (Attribute) save to flow correctly with the rest of the book.

In the spell Faithful Hound and the Knight's Demoralize ability it mentions save versus fear. It should be a Charisma Save.

I do not, personally, consider it errata as the save attributes themselves are only general guidelines with "usually" being included as to what they work against... but, that does not mean much. I actually prefer not having "save vs. Charisma" as knowing if something is against fear is more important, especially if you're a halfling (and therefore immune, but not against all Charisma save effects) or have a spell/ability that modifies the save.

There are quite a few instances of fear-based spells and effects that say charisma save not save vs. fear. The Brass Dragon's Breath Weapon description is probably how they all should be worded.
A potential victim is allowed an intelligence save (sleep) or a charisma save (fear) to resist the effects of the breath weapon.
Also, sometimes the text says save and sometimes it says saving throw. For consistency sake, it should be one or the other.

I agree that consistency is needed, but I would rather they say against the "category" and not the attribute. That's just a preference though.

In M&T the Raven is listed as a Magical Beast. It should be Animal.

In M&T of Airdhe the Charon Fiend is missing it's type. I think it should be Magical Beast.

And "it's type" should be "its type." (Possessive of "he" is "his," not "he's" and possessive of "it" is "its," not "it's.")

EDIT: In a language professor type post, I manage to misspell the very word I was talking about -- so I've added the proper apostrophe to the final "it's" in the last sentence.

In M&T of Aihrde the Ordag-muen, Vorgal Mound, and Zhenu are in the index, but they have no entry. Also, the Rhinoceros, Ferret, and Wolverine are missing from the index.

In the PHB 5th Printing. The rogue's hide ability says:

At this level and beyond, a rogue can attempt both but must make a successful conceal and move silent check at-5.

Conceal should be hide.

In Of Gods & Monsters

There is a monster called Shadow Rat. Although there is a picture of a rat next to the entry, the text itself doesn't indicate a rat-type creature at all. It describes an undead dwarf. I'm thinking this was suppose to be called a Shadow Dwarf or Dwarf Shadow.

Have you noted that for Phantasmal Killer (Level 4 spell) the text says that Minor Globe of Invulnerability can stop it, but if you read Minor Globe it states that it can only affect spells of level 1 to 3? So it should read Globe of Invulnerability.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

PHB 5th Printing, the spell Polymorph is listed in the spell tables as Polymorph, but it is split in two in the spell descriptions as Polymorph Self and Polymorph/Self Other. It's kind of confusing.

I can't tell what the proper errata threads are anymore. Can we get them all in one place? Or maybe they are and I missed it.

Anyway.

Doesn't the True Resurrection scroll seem like a bargain at 1100gp, when scrolls are supposed to already account for the material components?

Not sure if there is any other dedicated errata thread. I started this one because I frequently run into issues while messing around with stuff, and I'd like to log it here for 2 reasons. So I don't forget, and hopefully it'll be fixed in next printing.

In M&T Armor & Shield section says Armor & Shield Descriptions, no other sections include the word Descriptions.

No, you're fine, and thanks. I mean there should be a forum or subforum.

M&T (flip book p 106) Brazier of Commanding Fire Elementals has a variable gold and xp cost, but there is nothing in the item description to suggest why.

Agree.

It makes sense to have a forum of errata with sub forums for each book.

Such as...

Board Index> Troll Lord Games Errata > Players Handbook 5
...........................................................> Monsters & Treasure 4
...........................................................> Of Gods & Monsters
...........................................................> Monsters & Treasure of Airdhe
...........................................................> Rune Lore
...........................................................> Amazing Adventures
...........................................................> Starseige
...........................................................> Haunted Highlands
...........................................................> Castles & Crusades Modules
...........................................................> Starseige Modules
...........................................................> Amazing Adventures Modules
...........................................................> etc.

What I'm suggesting is a forum with sub forums for TLG books- still in print- and a broader forum for things like modules that deal with a specific Siege Engine game. It would be one of the lengthier forums but the ease it would create when someone needs to know where to put found errata or where to find, found errata, makes it invaluable. ( Guesss I should've put it in alphabetical order. :D )

I also agree on the subforum. The Trolls can scout it every once awhile, compile the errata and delete the posts afterwords or mark them as compiled.

M&T Cat entry descibes a wild cat not a domestic, so it should be called Cat, Wild.

In M&T

Amulet of Inescapable Location mentions the magic item amulet of proof against detection and location, which doesn't exist in C&C, but does in the SRD.

I'm going to move this thread off the main boards. If you want the password for those boards, let me know via PM.

In the future direct all errata threads to that forum.

Thank you kindly,
Steve

Question on Ravens, if they live to 180 and speak, well, I think that makes them magical beasts, so not an error in my use of raven's, but many call them "great ravens" or "giant ravens" to make them more "magical" and consider their small cousins typically "birds" and thus animals..

It works! I created a PHB 6th printing topic. Aergraith & I had started that other one earlier. I'll try to remember what I posted in that one.
