Friday chats
Last couple of times I dropped in on a Friday, either I was too late, or there was no society chat. Whether there is or not anymore, how about we get together Friday and get the discussions going again.
I'd especially like to invite anyone interested in discussing the finer points of Aihrde, but any gaming-related topics are open for discussion.
Time: Friday evening, roughly 7pm GMT-6, If no one is there, come back and check in an hour, people come on as they get home from work or done with supper.
Place: C&C Society site, http://castlesandcrusades.ning.com (registration required).
Who: C&C Society Members. This doesn't require any learning any handshakes or being hoodwinked and faced with a goat or anything*. Just send your particulars to the society squire; instructions are at the site.
If these times aren't convenient, post some that are; C&C players are all over the globe; chances are SOMEONE is willing to pop in and chat, but activity isn't high enough that you can wander in and find a conversation right now.

Re: Friday chats
I moseyed in after putting the grandkids to bed. (Friday nights are either date nights with my sweetie, or we baby-sit the grandkids so the dotter & son-in-law can go on a date.) Each of us were there to comment on the fact that no one else was there. It came close to being a roleplaying simulation itself, where we metagamed that no one was there to game.
At that point, I was caught in a temporal loop and became losted.

I've missed the chats. Will try to login, next time I don't have to work.

If they were not on Ning, I'd consider it. However, my Fridays have been less than available of late.

Re: Friday chats
I got tired of being the only one there and sitting for hours waiting. Or rather, it became too depressing, so I've since filled my evenings with other things. It was fun when we had the full room though...even if a lot of it really wasn't game related.

I don't know anything about Ning. What makes everyone dislike it?

1) No 'zilla!Volomyre wrote:I don't know anything about Ning. What makes everyone dislike it?
2) It's harder to keep track of who's saying what at times with the more folks you have chatting.
3) It isn't friendly with some folks' browser.
4) No 'zilla!

Re: Friday chats
Another reason for dislike.... I rather use a handle (my username here) than my actual name. I know some of the people here only by username. The old chat provided the option to choose yot.

Re: Friday chats
Hmmm, so what happened to ole the 'zilla chat? Can't recall. And why did it go away and the ning thing appear??
Wait, I'm now recalling the chat was part of the C&C Society forum, right?

Yes, I took it down when the move to a more Troll-owned Society happened. I have all the Society sounds, still, including the glory of 'zilla!

Re: Friday chats
Robert... was this an easy Java applet to set up off a site? My site needs serious updating and I'll be giving it a complete make over in the weeks ahead. I'm not a huge web programmer or anything but if it's just a matter of uploading the Applet to my site (with various sounds), I'd be happy to put it up and offer a NING alternative.serleran wrote:Yes, I took it down when the move to a more Troll-owned Society happened. Re: Friday chats
I used a hosted provider which had the option of setting up external entry points, such as your own website or to put it into the forums which is how I went as I did not, and still do not, have my own site. As I recall, the chat option was $80 a year but there were many advanced options (with higher costs) available that were tempting but never implemented.
