IF I can afford these, I'd like to have them. I don't bear a grudge against WOTC. I stopped playing 3.5 seven? years ago because I found better alternatives(C&C and Savage Worlds). 5th will have to be pretty damned good for me to buy it. Even then, I've got a lot of good gaming going on right now. Enough to last well beyond the two? years it will take them to release 5E.

I'm thinking that if they made an unlimited run, that statue would be up yesterday ... in gold.Omote wrote:Cool.

The prices are reasonable for modern RPGs. I was expecting twice as much for the nostalgia value.IF I can afford these, I'd like to have them. I don't bear a grudge against WOTC. They should just sell them in pdf also. WotC looses $ every day that they don't...
Re: WotC reprints 1stEd for Gygax Memorial Fund
I saw the prices. I'm divorced so affording 100.00 for the three books is harder to do these days. The prices are fair. The eBay hoarders will be out in full force to scoop these up. I can see Amazon and EBay buy it now prices when they go out of print. Probably 100 dollars a book. PDF's would be nice but that takes away the bragging rights when the books become the rpg holy grails of the auction sites. Guess that's better than making more money.

Don't know. They would be of value to me if the cover art was the same as the 1st printings of the original books in question.tylermo wrote:I saw the prices. Very cool! And for a good cause. I'll have to see if I can afford this.
Re: WotC reprints 1stEd for Gygax Memorial Fund
If WotC does not wet the bed on the cover art for the reprints, then I will vote with my dollars and buy a set.

Considering they spent years trying to distance themselves from Gygax, this does seem so.Omote wrote:Wizards is doing their part to get back into the good graces of those who have gravitated away.

Like any company, it depends on who is in charge and/or the spokesperson. Businesses don't do anything; people do. Business is one of the things people do. And choosing to be gracious and proper is always good business. Think where TSR might have been today, if not for all that in-fighting and bad blood for all those years!

While I get the business side of it and I'm not bitching, I kinda feel WotC is using the Gygax Fund to lure in us old-timers who normally disdain WotC. I would like to know how much of the profits are going to Gary's memorial. Maybe I'm just cynical.

Nah, same thought crossed my mind.
I don't really need these right now, but I'm happy they're available and on the shelves--at least for a limited time.

Only available in North America. Bit of a shame, that.

I ended up placing an order for them - it'll be nice to have copies of these books that were printed within the past few decades.
Re: WotC reprints 1stEd for Gygax Memorial Fund
It's sort of cool that wotc is re-releasing these, and as a collector I'm tempted. BUT, the price is way too high. I think I'd rather continue to buy C&C and OOP material.
