Is TrollLord.com ill?

Post by MormonYoYoMan »

Has anyone else had problems opening up TrollLord.com, either the main page(s) or the board? For the past few days, I've received a lot of errors saying the site is down, or missing, or taking Too Darned Long for the browser to tolerate, or something similar. Is there something wrong, with which one of us might be able to help? Or are we just over-stuffing the server and it's beginning to whine a lot and nap?

I think its the internet in general. I've had spotty problems with pretty much every website this week.

I don't visit the main site, so I don't know about it, but the forums have been very slow to load, sometimes not even at all. It seems to get better at the very early hours, and is generally sporadic. I thought it may have been my provider but that seems unlikely.

Yes, lots of SQL errors and no response from main page at times.

No problems for me either here or anywhere on the "internets" (in a george dubya accent). This is even after I arranged for an internet pipe speed downgrade from comcast (jack asses keep raising their prices on cable and internet).

It may be your browser. Not posted alot, but lurked a bit and ordered the new CK screen with no problems. This has been within the past week and a half.
What browser are you using?

We're alternating between Chrome and Firefox on the laptop; Dolphin, Last Pass, and the generic browser on the Nook Tablet; and Firefox & the generic browser on the Android phone. Same problems with each.

Hmm if its the only site you are having a problem with and it happening on multiple devices that points to either (this site) or a routing problem from your isp to this server.

I don't want to go as far to say it's a routing problem, but at the same time others seem not to be having the problem. By chance do you what a tracert is?

No idea what a tracert is. I'll google it.

Meantime, I've used these devices in several other wifi areas, including our daughter's/son-in-law's place, a hospital, and a hotel. Except for the phone, in which case I stick with the 4G connection.

And a couple of other people have posted that they get the same problems that I do.

Well, in that case. I'd say it is the site itself.

Could be that there are a few of us that the site doesn't like. Or maybe when we all get on at once, it gets boggled.

No joke. it might be the solor flare storms affecting satellites.
(I think some internet traffic is thru satellites, right? even "land line" phones use satelilites nowadays)

When it happens I've done tracert & pings. It is the site itself not ISP connection. There are php errors and the like.

It's almost always going to the be site in these cases, especially if you see those database connection error pages. I consider the hosting company only so-so, like most they jam too many clients on too few resources. If it keeps up we can try to get Steve or Brian to have a word with them and see if they can't take a look at it, otherwise it's just one of those things.

[I've seen a few errors and slow loads in the last week or so as well.]

It took me three days to log on here. I did nothing different. It just decided to let me do it.
