Does anyone know if D&D plans to use prime ability scores like C&C in 5th edition?
Scream and charge is not a tactic.

There have been noises of such a thing but, you'd need to ask a play tester.

That would be quite interesting.western watcher wrote:Does anyone know if D&D plans to use prime ability scores like C&C in 5th edition?
I could see something similar to the prime system being utilized as an option, for a simpler game. I don't think it would be part of the "base" system, though.

Re: Primes
I can't answer this for 5e, but there have always been "prime requisites" in the game. Siege Engine primes are a continuation of this tradition with a different mechanic, that's all. I'd wager that prime requisites will live on, but I can't wager how they will apply in 5e.western watcher wrote:Does anyone know if D&D plans to use prime ability scores like C&C in 5th edition?

Re: Primes
Someone told me each class receives a +2 to their prime attribute. So, at least the "prime" vocabulary is still present. IDing classes by a prime attribute, if it's singular, is also CnCish. From what I've heard, the idea is to push check, tests, save and stuff back to the attributes. Who knows, though, still way too early.
Re: Primes
Actually, this predates C&C, in earlier editions of (A)D&D you received an XP bonus for high prime req. scores. Also, if I remember correctly, 1st Ed. had minimum scores for certain attributes, kind of an "anti-prime". So if you score was really low, I think the number was less than 6, but don't quote me on that, you had to be a certain class...Ieuane wrote:IDing classes by a prime attribute, if it's singular, is also CnCish.
Str < 6 - Can only be a MU
Int < 6 - Can only be a Fighter
Wis < 6 - Can only be a Thief
Dex < 6 - Can only be a Cleric (not sure on this one)
Con or Cha < 6 - Not sure if there was a restriction on these two
Wish I had my books here at work
Re: Primes
What do you know I was right, it is 5 and lower that will force a character into a class so less than 6 is correct. The classes as I had shown are correct also with the addition of -
Con < 6 - Illusionist
Cha < 6 - Assassin
Two other items to note is that the prime score for each class has a minimum requirement of 9, and the races also had minimum scores on the various ability charts.
