Good tip, Sir!
Also by then, I'll lose interest and save all the shekels.

Ain't that the truth. I guess I'm just weird that after all these years I never even care to think about the order of the character classes. Ordered, not in order...eh, I can still find them. :)

All I 'm stating is a fact.
Fact: We were playing a four hour game. It was hard (esp for those that have never played) to find the classes.
Fact: At least in this country, things listed alphabetically are easier to find then being listed in any other way.
Fact: What was done in Edition x of the AD&D books has no bearing on the FACT that it's hard to find a particular
class because it's not listed Alphabetically.

I have to agree that I would prefer that the Races section came before the Classes and that the stuff was alphabetical. I'm used to the layout by now, though, ha.

I do think it is something to ponder if the current goal of TLG/C&C is to appeal to newer gamers (as opposed to those that might recognize fairly quickly that the layout is based on the AD&D PH). Even though I played AD&D, after playing 3e for so long I found the layout odd as well.

I can't argue with Nightstorm's facts, but I have trouble browsing spells because they're listed alphabetically instead of grouped by class and level. :)

No, actually you are stating an opinion which you can back up with personal experiences that support your point of view. However, your opinion isn't shared by everyone, as has been made apparent on this thread. But I am curious about something: do your new players not know how to use a table of contents?

In this country, alphabetical order is easier. No one is denying that. However, as stated earlier in this thread, this was a stylistic choice by the Trolls, and THAT is a verifiable fact. The fact that other games such as AD&D have made similar choices is relevant here. It shows that this is not an isolated case, and also shows that it is quite intentional.

Whether you choose to agree or disagree is irrelevant. The only fact that matters is that the Trolls wanted the characters set up in this particular order. That is why this discussion is a non-starter.
