Happy Canada Day!

Post by KaiserKris »

Don't know how many Canucks there are on them boards, but regardless of whether you are fortunate enough to be one or not, I wish everyone an awesome, happy Canada Day!

Me, I'll be off a bit later to eat barbecue, have some brews and watch some fireworks later on. :D

Merry Canada Day to all our friends and family up north!

I used to call y'all "the frozen chosen," but that was before we spent about 4 years in Alaska.

It's been a scorcher here. Between 20 and 30 degree Celsius. I'm building a playhouse for my Granddaughter(s) and drinking water like I'm out in a desert. ;)

That's how I spent my Canada day. :)

If I read the conversion correctly the temp is running about 68-86F. Here in the lovely Ozarks we have been running close to 100F (37.7C) with humidity at 40%+ making the heat index vicious. We also haven't had any significant rain for about a month and a half. Needless to say it's miserable here.

Not trying to outdo Sir Ironside, but I would gladly switch places with him right about now.

Believe me there are plenty of people around here basking in the glory of heated wonder. Being from Canada I have a lower tolerance for heat.

Add Ectodermal dysplasia (Vampire syndrome) it becomes almost unbearable for me. I stay in a lot when it gets too hot and if I have to go outside I have to cover-up and have to have shade nearby. Sunscreen does nothing.

For the record, from that list I have,
  • Abnormal or missing teeth
  • Decreased skin color (pigment)
  • Heat intolerance
  • Poor temperature regulation
  • Thin skin
  • Decreased sweating because of a lack of sweat glands
  • The sun is around twice as bright as a normal person
I literally burn through t-shirts. Sunstroke is a constant worry and you can see why I prefer nighttime to daytime.

Trust me, being a vampire isn't what it is all cracked up to be.

I almost skipped the border to go into Ontario, but alas, it was not meant to be. Instead, I resigned to play some street hockey with a tin can. Not really Canadian, but oh well.
