Digest version of PHB

Post by mbeacom »

Hey there everyone,
I was recently looking to pickup a digest sized copy of the PHB and can't find it on the new store. Does anyone know, is that out of print? Are there any left? When I initially bought a digest of M&ToA, I was ho hum about it until I realized how nice it was for on the go gaming. So perfect. I can bring my whole C&C library in a very small backpack. But I can't find it on the store. Am I looking the wrong place or did they stop printing them?
Thanks!

I haven't seen them since last year or early this year. I'm not 100%, but it looks like it might be out of print right now. Best luck in finding a copy.

I purchased six of these little gems last year for our gaming group. Gotta love'm but the binding falls apart fast. Every one of them is falling apart. The good part is, my groups has them all marked in and dog-eared. The highlight spells, make notes in the margins, you name it. Love these itty bitty books.

Binding should last longer than a year (with "normal" use, it should last many years - think of all the dog-eared paper backs you probably own...). Are you gluing or taping them to hold them together? I'd raise this as a quality assurance issue with the trolls for any future editions.

Having said that, both Paizo and Sci-Fi Genre have some for sale...

Hey Redwullf,
Not sure why I didn't think about those types of places. I guess I just always buy my stuff direct from the Troll Lords so it never really occurred to me to check other distribution channels. Thanks I just picked up digest copies of PHB and M&T!

As the Director of Quality Assurance for the last manufacturer of USA made vacuum cleaners, I would like to say there is a problem with the quality of the binding on these digest-sized books. The content however, remains solid and packed full of high quality.

Got em today (PHB and M&T digests). They look awesome. Tiny font but awesome. And upon closer inspection, you can see they are only binding glued. So if a person were to open them a little too forcefully or to try to get them to lay open/flat, that glue would crack and the book might start falling apart.

I like the micro version of the CKG. I have the other ones but I don't use them. Of course, I don't use the big boy version of Monsters and Treasure either and rarely reference the PHB so that may not be saying much.

I like the smaller format of the digest-sized books, but print of that size would be very off-putting to read. The "pocket-sized hardback"* is my favourite format for a book, but I think you really have to reformat the book and keep the print size.

*OK, it's a coat-pocket, but you get the idea.
