Any interest in doing some on line D&D Next playtesting?

Post by Treebore »

If so what days? What times? Lets see if we can make something happen. They have stuff for up to 10th level now, so we have lots to play around with. I really want to see how their Rosetta Stone measures up to our Rosetta Stone.

I've given up on doing it with my face to face group. In 5 months only one of them have gone to the web site and signed up.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

That was a quick turn around from the last update. Only a few weeks. I'll check it out when I get home tonight.

Also, I would love to playtest the thing, but I don't have many free evenings and I already play (more or less) on those ones.

I'm interested in giving it a go. I tried the last play test with my sit down group and had about the same luck as you Tree. As for days I can play, I think I can swing most(Have to check with Wife :) )

Good! I am hoping Thursday works out, but I can also make Wed or Friday work. I'll see if the one in my face to face group is up to some on line gaming for this.

I have some free time on my hands, if you still have room. Pretty much any weeknight is open from 7:00 EST.

Yeah, we have plenty of room. Your number 3 so far. Roll20 good for you?

Roll20 is fine, I just need to create an account on there.

I hope you aren't counting me as one of the three. As much as I would like to play, I just can't get involved in another game right now.

Nope. Me, Arrow and Dead. Hopefully one of my face to face players will make number 4.

We have at least 4, so 3 players and a DM, plenty to play test with. So now we need to decide on day and time, and start date. I am voting for a Thursday, but I can make Wednesday or Friday work too. I am Pacific time, so you Easterners decide our start time.

The time we have been starting works for me(7:00 till 10:00). We can shift that an hour either way. As for days, I like Thursday the best but can do any but Monday and Sunday. Do you know what level we are going with so I can start looking at character creation?

I wasd talking with Kayolan on SKYPE tonight, he is also good with Thursday, and above it looks like Dead is good with Thursdays as well, so Thursday it is!

As for starting level... hmmmm. Ideally I'd like to start at first and work to 10th to get a real good feel for how the scaling is working, but otherwise 5th would probably be best?

Thoughts?

I guess we should also decide who the GM is. Anyone really want to be the GM? I don't really want to be, or even simply want to be. So if anyone of you want it, say so.

I wasn't planning on DMing either.

I figured even if I don't end up being the DM, since I am a paid supporter of Roll 20, I'd "host" the game so we don't have to put up with ads. I am also going to use their looking for players option, since I have an unlimited number of those I can now do.

Here is the link for you to join, after that you should be able to go through your account web page to get to it.

Good luck. Wish I could join you all. Thurs is my face to face 4e game. Friday would have been the only possible night for me.

I'll check on your posts, see how things work out :P

After reading everything over I am fine with being the DM if no one else wants to do it. Lets use the pre gens to start off with. We'll create new characters if/when the pre gens die.

I posted this on Roll20 as well, but don't how often you check there. Are we using the voice chat on there or are we using Skype?

SKYPE. The voice chat of Roll 20 has been too problematic for random people. So SKYPE is much more stable/reliable.

Everyone probably should keep an eye on the comments section on the Roll 20 main campaign page. The other guys are posting there since they do not know about this forum. Here is something I posted there:

I can allow you to generate your own characters, but no matter what it is still limited to the 4 classes and the races listed. Use this attribute array, arranged as desired: 18, 15, 14, 13, 11, 09. This is very close to all the pre gens, so will be fair. Anyone playing the wizard pre gen can change the 17 to an 18.

Also no evil alignments. You want to play evil, take my place as the GM and you can play all the evil you want

Well, since 3 of you cannot make it this time, I think we may as well just move our start date to next week. If you could tell me what you want to play, send me a character sheet if they are not a pre gen, so I can get character sheets pre loaded into roll 20. If I have time I will even set up your macros.
