Gen Con

Post by Snoring Rock »

Ok, registration opens next Sunday. The Troll Lords spoke last year of having a C&C room dedicated to our Crusade. This is the time to get this rolling. I believe Piperdog was in charge. We cannot wait until the day before the con. Now is the time to get a room reserved.

Anyway, I am willing to run games any time, so I am in. The dedicated rom would be great. Will we just set up there and play or will there be organized ticketed games? If so, the event team should allow those games to all be located inthe C&C game hall/room. These areas will fill fast.

What say you?

I will be there, and I am willing to run some games (not on the main schedual). If there is a "C&C Room", count me in for even more. My off-grid games will still be happening. I'm sticking with my high-level C&C descent into hell game, Paladin in Hell. Bring your diapers.

I'm hoping to be there. Depends on a few things...will I be working a booth, are some of my other friends (from the local area) end up going, etc. Otherwise, I'd be glad to run demos, and help sell the game as I do throughout the rest of the year. ;-)

I'm in full agreement with you, Snoring Rock. I'm looking to attend GenCon and would consider possibly volunteering to run some C&C demos/events during one day of the Con provided the room and details are handled prior to event registration. There needs to be no foot dragging / procrastination on getting a dedicated room if its going to happen. The other events I'm interested in playing sell out quickly once registration opens and I want to be able to plan my schedule effectively.

If there is a dedicated room at the biggest gaming convention, it would be a GREAT opportunity to grow C&C in the gaming community. The events should be on-the-grid so that Con attendees can see the games, buy tickets, play, then go forth and spread the word to their gamer cohorts. Having a dedicated room with no on-the-grid event visibility will attract few new players to the Crusade. Pretty much the only people who will be aware of it are those who frequent sites like this one and we're already fans of the game.

Just my two coppers.

Pretty sure Steve will be in here and tell you all about TLG's plan. When he makes them. In late July.

I'll be there. I'd like to have a C&C game ready to run, but I don't know if I'll be able to. I'd really like to get into some games on the player side of the screen, that's for sure. :D

I'm not going, but A Paladin in Hell is a wicked cool module.

While I won't attend, I hope things go well and lots of my books sell.

Last year, my two C&C games were dismal failures, either from non-attendance or player apathy (not all of the players, thankfully-- there were a couple awesome players!-- but enough to sabotage everyone else's fun). It left me with a bad taste in my mouth, moreso because I know there were people from these boards who would likely kill to play C&C at Gen Con and couldn't get into my games because they sold out so quickly. So I would be all about a C&C room, and would be more than willing to run (and play, dammit, PLAY) a couple C&C games! *

* - I should point out that this all hinges on me being fortunate enough to be able to afford Gen Con this year... we'll cross our fingers and see how the tax check works out!

I am really sorry to hear that. I ran two games and both were fantastic. I had one of the clerics actually coming up with chants and verses for turning undead. I sold 2 PHB's and a set of books (PHB/CKG/M&T).

We need games on the grid to get the name out there. We need the room for demos and off-grid games. But this must be worked out prior to July. It needs to be set up with the Con officials before the event registation opens. July is like 7 months too late. A game breaking out at Scotties Brew Pub is great, but you cant teach, learn or sell there. An organized effort with a few banners and a dedicated room where we can demo is a must!

I will run and organize. I will cheer lead and run games off and on the grid. I am here to serve oh Mighty Troll Lords! Where art thou?

I won't be going either, but I will be jealous of all the fun your having.

A C&C room could be a great thing. I remember how it worked out for Pinnacle Entertainment's Savage Saturday Night (Savage Worlds) at GenCon. The first couple of events consisted of small groups of established players and company folk. By at least 2009 (my last year at GenCon), it had really grown. I understand the last couple of years have been off the charts. You don't have to be Paizo and WOTC to make some headway. Just hope I can be there to help.
