C&C DragonLance Adaptation Manual

Post by Rigon »

So, I've been going through some of my adaptations and old house rules and things. I was looking at my DragonLance adaptation and realized that it needed an upgrade (I had some house rules in it and some other things for my game). So I've gone through it and did some editing and then realized that instead of having 2 DL adaptations (a player's and a CK's), why not just combine them into one PDF. So that's what I did after I went through them and cleaned them up. I now have, what I'm calling, the C&C DragonLance Adaptation Manual. I just need to find away that I can host them somewhere that is easy for people to access.

Cool.

Use Google docs. Or host it on a Google site. It's free, but you have to have a gmail account.

Do it.

I have it figured out. You can access all of the things I've adapted and a few other whatnots by following the "Whatnots" link in my sig. I just had to play around with Dropbox to get it to work.

But thanks for the heads up about Google docs. I'll have to look into when I get home. The school computer won't let me get there.

I looked over the DL conversion materials you have there (again). Thank you sir. It's still mighty fine stuff.

Ah, The Book of the Mind. I had that on my old comp, which crashed. Really good stuff. I'll be sure to check out the rest.

heya i did some dragonlance conversions that i never found in ur adaptation manual..
such as knights of takhisis/neraka
mystic
ogres
irda
draconians
sea elves both kinds
and gods during the war of the lance, when they were a bit more powerful than age of mortals.. giving clerics bonus spells and abilities.
where as the gods during teh age of mortals are weaker in power becuase of takhisis taking over the world.

as well.. non-dragonalnce related, i converted dnd3 -psionics
psions with access to any power just need the PP to use them, xp is higher
psions - like in the book, gaining level of powers known during leveling up
psi-warrior (2 kinds)
espers - powers that require rolling toa ctivate it (based of the necroscope series by brainlumely)

i havent did all the conversions from teh expanded edition of psionics..but did it for the first attempt at dnd3 psionics

i havent did much explanations in them, just did them in spreadsheets. anywyas..
i did find a dragonlance maunal that ahd some stuff u never had in yours as well...
called cnc dragonlance adventures

anyways if ur interested i wouldnt mind a second set of eyes to make sure its "balanced" or whatever.. thanks in advanced and take care

I'll take a look, but I only run games set right after the War of the Lance and my baseline was the original DL modules and I progress the timeline myself. I don't follow the published work, so I don't know much about the published stuff for after the DL mods or stories. That's why that stuff didn't make it into my doc. Plus, I think that all the knight stuff can be done with roleplay that doesn't need mechanics to back it up.

Draconians are monsters, not PCs. ;)

And thanks.

I got that from another source (I'm ashamed that I can't remember where). I ran a DL campaign a while ago for the online group and will probably run another one at some point. I love DL as a setting.

Yeah, I know that, but for me Draconians will always be monsters. :D

So much DL conversion material available in the 3E DragonLance materials, with Races of Krynn being my favorite. I also used Rigon's DL material as a baseline for my own. Thanks again Rig.

Which setting book is recommended to work with this? 1E? 3E? Tales from the Lance Boxed Set?

He mentions above that his conversions only go up to right after The War of the Lance. So whichever products you own that support that time period.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

You could use any campaign reference material you have. I personally like the 3e War of the Lance book the most and will be the book I use when I run another DL campaign. Most of my source info came from either the DL modules, The Tales of the Lance box set, and the Players Guide to Dragonlance for 2e.

What isn't?

Anything can be made playable. Whether that means someone else agrees, though, is a story for a different author.
