Aihrde's Gods List, please?
Greetings,
I was wondering if there was anyone who could give me a fairly comprehensive list (deity name and portfolio) of the common gods of Aihrde... I've read the other post but it only covers the types of gods, not the individual deities. I've just started a C&C campaign and I'm going to be running my group through AoBR and I would like to have this information on hand (for character creation and shrine descriptions etc.). As the campaign primer is still a bit off, I was hoping I could get this information here...? Can anyone help me? Trolls?
Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you don't own the hardcover 'Codex of Erde'. If you're wanting to run a C&C campaign in this world, I can't urge you enough to get this book. It has all the deities, world info, etc that you need.
And, if memory serves, the book can be purchased at a greatly discounted price from TLG. Cheers!

Last I checked, it was $10 US. Well worth the price.

The only thing I'd add at this point that it is d20... but don't let that discourage you. Since it's campaign setting material at least 90% to 95% of it is informational anyway and it can be used with any ruleset!
And for $10 -- you just can't go wrong.
I got hooked on the setting and got *all* the d20 stuff I could get for Erde (which TLG also has massively discounted and on sale).

Concurring with everyone else, I'll just add that, it's a lot of info, or I would type it up for ye.
Codex page 206, has a list (Chapter 4: Spells), but so much info/history/lore about the deities, heroes and gods is interspersed throughout the book.
The Codex of Erde is absolutely an excellent campaign world book!

PM me through this board and I will e-mail you some downoads that used to be available for free from the TLG site. I think they are still supposed to be up for free, but never got transferred when the new webstie was created.
One is a 7 page creation myth of Erde. It doesn't list all the gods, but gives you the main players.
The second is a summary of the "politics" of Erde, which you will find very useful for AoBTR and any other "A" series module.
I have another that shows how the Trolls have the cosmology of Erde set up, including how Inzae is related to Erde.
If you e-mail me at a good time, I'll even scan the page in the Codex that lists all the deities.
In the PM give me your normal e-mail, and what its maximum file size it can receive is.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been purposely holding off purchasing the Codex of Erde in favor of the new stuff coming out. It's not that I don't want to support the Trolls (I bought 3 PHBs), I just prefer having current information. I may decide to pick it up afterall - I'll see.
Just out of curiousity, how many deities are there? Can anyone give me a rough estimate? Thanks!

41, including the 5 or so "heroes/villains" that can grant spells.
As for the info, other than changing it to "fit" C&C, and also changing the names across the board, the "core information", meaning gods, kingdoms, timelines, etc.. are staying unchanged. So the d20 Codex will be good fcor that. Besides, as slow as the Trolls can be about stuff (assuming they don't outright forget about it-Star SIEGE), we may die of old age before they get the new versions out.
In other words, I say buy it now.
For the modules you seem to be running, the only ones you really need ot know about are Unklar, the All-Father, and Wenefar.
Another thing to consider, other than giving them names and domains (in 3E) they never wrote up the deities in any great detail except Luther, Unklar, the All Father, Inzae, the Twin sisters, and maybe a couple of others.
Plus they are not actual write ups. You get info about them from the history of Erde's creation myth.
So you might want to do what I did. I use the Norse Gods and threw in Wenefar, Unklar, Inzae, etc.... Having the "All Father", who is now dead be Odins father, and I got rid of the Ragnorok histories. The background history of Erde is their history, not true norse mythology, even though I have drawn on that heavily as I have needed to.

I draw from some Norse as well but also Greek and Egyptian aside from those already mentioned.
Seemed to make sense since they refer to Demeter (derived from Greek Mythology) and Thoth (derived from Egyptian). They aren't necessarily identical but 'close' enough.

I'm the same way Moriarty. The Norse Gods, which are worshipped in the north, are a little more wide spread in my Aihrde. I find that my players usually understand and accept deities better when they are already familiar with them. That said, I do mix it up a bit. My Aihrde is a post-Ragnarok setting... but things did not play out like the old legends. Loki cheated death and now sits on the throne of Asgard. Gods like Odin and Thor still perished, but others survived like Freya and Tyr (see below). Odin has ties with the All-Father. Actually, they might be one and the same. I haven't decided. Maybe I'll "borrow" Treebore's solution?
With both Demeter and Posidion in Aihrde, I will, at some point, work in other gods from Greek Mythology. I'm playing with an idea of adding a cluster of islands south of the mainland. This island nation is where all of the Greek Gods regein. I'm in no hurry to work out the details and would like to see what Steve includes in the new Aihrde material.
I also take a page from Necromancer Games, incorporating deities from a variety of sources. Thyr (aka Tyr), Hecate, Hel, Freya, Set... all from earthly mythologies. Of course, any mention of Orcus in my adventures has been replaced with Unklar. If you are interested the Necro gods, here's a link http://www.necromancergames.com/pdf/gods_and_demons.pdf
Necromancer Games has a bigger collection of house gods that are included in Bard's Gate.

To add to the peer pressure, buy the the Codex! It's a really cool book and after I read it, I realized I have a setting that I love and could get a lifetime of gaming out of it. A lot of flavor that really brings the world to live.

Thanks for the link. That's actually another reason why I no problem going the route I did. I've bought a few Necromancer products in the past which I plan on incorporating in one form or another. Some of these include Necropolis, Trouble At Durbenford, and The Lost City of Barakus. I've also been looking at a few other of their mods. As for Orcus... I'm having the archangelic and demonic be a more persistent presence in my campaign. I've always had a soft spot for Orcus since I ran/played the Mines of Bloodstone all those years ago!
I dare say that, if the players ever get their characters high enough level, we may have to visit that little mountain pass one more time!

Wow, I shudder in fear of that mod! I have never played it, but know it fairly well. I'd love to play in this, once day.

Actually, it is 4 mods. Yes, they are deadly, and I love them dearly, despite losing one of my favorite characters to them.

Thanks for the link Outsider. I strongly prefer a smaller list of gods, and that list is a solid start. I think I'll use that as my base and add as I go. I'm going to add a grouping for Saints and Lesser Demons (for all those lesser type deities), The Horned One, Wenefar, and maybe some primal forces. For all the others I will probably convert to one on that initial list. This will help as I'm also looking to use some of Necromancer's products (Lost City of Barrakus, City-State of the Invincible Overlord, and maybe a couple others)
How detailed are the kingdom descriptions in the Codex? I'm curious about Outremere, customs, garb, social dynamics, etc. I'm not looking for too much, just enough for some solid flavor. I may just homebrew it. Thanks in advance.

Quite right... they number 4 in total... the Mines of Bloodstone is the 2nd in the series. I've never run the 4th one called the Throne Of Bloodstone though. It would certainly be interesting to do since I remember it being advertised as being the highest level mod of all time. Something like level 18 to 100 I believe? Tracking down Orcus to his home plane in the Abyss and taking him out *THERE* !? Crazy!
LOL
But the Mines of Bloodstone is a wonderful mod, and if you are unlucky, you do go toe to toe with the bad ass himself... (somehow 'unlucky' always happened when I've run the module in the past).

Hi Outsider. Not sure if you've seen this, but the Trolls have done, to a degree what you have suggested in Aihrde. Check out the Tagean Islands (Codex, page 1 32). It may be what you're looking for.

Most of this info is quite detailed and covered very well in the Codex. And since you mentioned that you will be using AoBtR, I think the book will be quite helpful.
Also, as you probably know from reading AoBtR, great bits of info can be gathered from the other modules as well.
At the very least, download the free mods A Lion in the Ropes and The Rising Knight.
Lion is not situated in Outremere, but could be set there, but does have some interesting info on Aihrde.
RN is set just south of the Blacktooth Ridge and has some great history/lore and other tidbits.

Thanks Rhuvein. I'm aware of Tagean. My thoughts on the situation is that the people of Tagean are descedents of those from my "greek island nation." Sailers and explorers who traveled north and setted down instead of returning home. It was probably through these folks that the worship of Poseidon and Demeter originated.

Great idea, I like it. Aihrde seems to be a very good world/setting to develop your thoughts for an expanded "Greek Island Nation" area!
