Armor Weight

Post by Lobo316 »

For abilities that are restricted by the weight of armor...some of the barbarian ablities for example, where it says "If wearing armor wearing 25 pounds or more" do you include the shield in that weight?

Also, is that supposed to be the the weight of one piece? Or do you add in different pieces of individual armor to that weight (helm, gauntlets, etc).

Mostly the shield question is what I wondering about, but thought I'd expand the topic a bit with the 2nd question.

Thanks All!!!

I'd probably not include the weight of the shield to 25# limit.

If for nothing else, it is one of the few kindness I show to my players. I do include the armour penalty for the shield. This way they can shrug off the shield and reduce the penalty. Of course this affects AC but what you gonna do?

When you say armor penalty do you mean to rogue and assassin abilities? The barbarian does not recieve a penealty he is just not able to an ability in heavy armor.
There are two novels that can change a 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

The 4th printing barbarian does have some ablities he cannot use when wearing more than 25 pounds of armor.
