He is done with TLG and C&C. Pretty much sums it up.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I'm sorry to see Serl go, but I would be also sorry to see his posts vanish. Perhaps he could take some time away rather than have his account nuked.

Funny, guys. Given what Serl has done for C&C and the C&CS as a whole he deserves a bit more respect than that.

Not meant to be disrespectful, just pointing out it's not the 1st time seeing a post like this from Robert - it was in 2008 that he PMd me saying he was done with the Society and then posted almost the same message, no context, no reason, as this one on the boards. He was removed from the forums but then came back a few days later, but still didn't want to reclaim the Society Seneschal position. That's why I adopted the "high squire" thing because it didn't quite feel right taking his title and wanted to hold it for him if he chose to reclaim it, and I did that respecting Robert. I still don't really know what was up then, and I wouldn't pretend to know what's going on now. Tree assumes its a TLG relationship thing, could be, or could be he's pissed off over what people said on another thread (curious I looked for his most recent posts - been over a month and it was a thread in which he gave some advice and some people pointed out the advice could be ethically or pragmatically questionable and he took umbrage), or he good be going through a bad spot in life and gaming in general has become sour to him. Whatever the case, I wish him the best and hope he will return. There's too many of us who should endeavor to be active members of the community like we used to be  and when he's in a good place, Robert can be a fount of wisdom and gaming rules knowledge. Maybe the better thing is just to wish him the best and a hope for all the bacon the world can muster

It really wasn't your comment that caused me to say that and it was also just a reminder to some that Robert deserves a certain level of respect.

That said, I think it has to do with some issues that have been brewing for awhile. I have my suspicions but will keep them to myself. I do wish Serl well and hope he finds success wherever he goes.

Yeah, it has been brewing for a while. Now he is done. At least for now. Its all we need to know. Plus I learned long ago to copy all of Serl's posts I want to keep, so I'm not missing out on anything I am aware of.

That's rather disconcerting, wot?

I shall ask the fellow about this whilst enjoying tea and crumpets during our weekly game of whist!

Carry on!
