Murder in Baldurs Gate, quick thoughts...

Post by Treebore »

I've read through all of the "campaign" material for this and about 1/3 of the adventure module. My thoughts so far are that the campaign materials are pretty darn awesome. Great maps, pictures, diagrams, NPC illo's, as well as information that has depth, but not overly so. As for the adventure itself, there are a couple of things I don't like so far, but that is a preference in presentation, as well as killing off a great character. I am also concerned that this would be a difficult module to manage, even for more experienced DM's, because you are basically given three "paths" this adventure can go on, and the players can also combine those paths, so it may become confusing to keep track of as well as try to figure out what the results should be. If it all comes together, though, it should be a very memorable adventure. I still have to read the rest of it, so I may comment more later.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

A module recently put out by WOTC for the 3.5E, 4E and D&D Next systems. Plus, of course, C&C, but they don't know that.

I'll have to look at it later when I get home.

Another thing to be aware of, is this does tie into the Baldurs Gate video game. They even have a statue in this module, within Baldur's Gate, dedicated to a certain character and his "Giant Space Hamster".
So this does also incorporate the "Time of Troubles" crap, but I am easily coming up with ways to edit that crap into something usable.

I wouldn't have bought it either if I hadn't gotten the Amazon discount.

I bought it on Amazon. I have never run the realms before, but I would love to run this.
