New Year Resolutions?

Post by angelius »

Any gaming resolutions this year guys?
Mine: Try to not to wing it all the time. Actually do some preparation instead of sketching out a plot on the napkins at a cafe beforehand. I think my players can appreciate some consistency. OH and remember my NPC names....

HAHA!

Mine is just the opposite. I do way to much prep and waste more time than needed on it. Especially since the players I have/had seem to come and go so consistency is out the window as far as I'm concerned.

Just one.

To try to tempt some of my friends that are self-admitted former gamers back into the hobby.

Along that line of thinking. Do you guys find that most female gamers find it very hard to be open about gaming? Both my female players are such closet gamers its not funny.

Once a guy from our group and me, met one of our female gamers for lunch with her co-worker and we of course started talking about C&C. Much to the dismay of our female gamer. Fortunately we got the hint and stopped talking.

It seems that it is ok for a guy to be a geek, but not ok for a girl to be a geek. Thoughts?

Mine is to write more, at least 1k words a day (probably more). Got too used to late night writing sessions for Univ. deadlines.
Re: FM Gamers; I won't say my wife "hides" her gaming but isn't too forward about it. In general, we don't bring up gaming if we're in a group of non-gamers. Oh, if we're asked about it or the subject comes up we'll freely discuss but rarely bring up the subject. More of a politeness thing (talking about subjects that the majority around you might not find interesting) than "hiding" anything. Another of my FM gamers would bring it up regardless, but then as she freely admits she's tact impaired.

I've got to try and get my group together more often. Everyone in our group does get busy from time to time, but I need to keep more regular sessions.

Methinks the girls that have modeled for art in the PHB, 3 of which who are gamers, and the rest who are huge geeks, would argue with that assessment.

I'd like to have some of them in my group then! On a good day our guy to girl ratio is like 3:1 and 4:1 during holiday season. We need some more estrogen!

When girls start playing C&C with us for too long they become one of the guys and then they don't count anymore! hehehe

lol ... "all the girls who played it.. because someone they know play it and they never discover it by themselves."

That is probably the truest quote ever.

In reversal, probably applies to watching sex in the city or something like that for a guy.

Although my fiance and i finally found a s**t TV show we're both interested in, beauty and the geek. But they arent true geeks... no D&Ders in that supposed group of geeks!

For my gaming group, that happens when she starts burping, farting and making sexual jokes at the table. Then We start making those kind of jokes and she get's all "O my GOD" on our asses..

"What?? You don't count... you're one of the boys!"

As far as resolution goes : Stop wasting time thinking how I could tweak C&C to add more PC's customization to it and just play the game as it is.

&

Pay for my wedding.

&

Get the courage to get that thing snip snip.. OY.. no more kids.. pls.. Oy

I was talking about implementing new feats and spell selection into C&C but then I played a 3.5 game during the Holiday... After that I slapped myself on the forehead and decided not to change anything.

Great Video! I gotta show my wife when she gets home...

Because she's the exception that proves the rule. Her mom bought her the Holmes Basic D&D set in 1980 and she collected 1E and all the stuff but didn't have anyone to play it with because her "girlfriends" weren't into that. At least, not until 11th grade and she moved somewhere where some of her new (girl) friends were into the SCA. Which isn't a big jump from RPGs if you think about it.

Its funny because showing my fianc this video made me promise my first resolution, stop talking about D&D (really C&C, its more D&D to me) so much. That comes from not playing ANYTHING for a couple years.

I wish hers would be to play with me at least once, but the diet thing comes up.

My second resolution was to be more of a decent human being. . . hey, its possible.

2) Wanna do another collaborative mod?

3) (loud chanting) "Cthulhu...Cthulhu..."

4) According to Davis' new rules on death and dying...they can only commit NEAR suicide. lol.

When the snow fell here in Buffalo for a day, the power dided. My UPS went with it, taking the video card out of the equation.. so umm, I have no way to see what's on my monitor. I don't get much "downtime" these days, and mostly have weekends for "other stuff." I'll try to get around some.
