[Recruiting] Temple of Elemental Evil

Post by Skylark »

Hi. I am starting a C&C game over at En World for a Greyhawk-based game to the Temple of Elemental Evil (T1-4) Megamodule. If ther is anyone over here who would like to participate, please drop on by the recruiting thread, I'd love to have you. Maybe having a nice game over at the En World site will showcase C&C for those unfamiliar with it. I just recently picked up the PH and MT books, and was impressed enought to have another go at the ToEE after many years.

Personally I am involved in enough chats and PbP's right now.

If you want to actually try playing, in a chat, we in combat Kyles group could use some more players. A Thief or a Cleric would be most helpful, but anything else is good too.

We play alternating Sundays (such as today). Time (for me in AZ) is 12:00 AM to 3:00 PM, I believe that is 2 to 5 PM EST.

We currently have a Paladin, Monk, Illusionist, and Ranger.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Hi Skylark. Greyhawk and C&C are always tempting for me, so I would be interested in playing. I'll throw my "interested" post with some more specifics over there at ENworld.

If I wanted to run the temple of elemental evil with my C&C group which module do you recommend I buy?

The original from 1985 or the return to the temple of elemental evil one

or both?????????????

T1-4. Not Return. If you can find Return for next to nothing, go ahead, but it really is not that great.

Return changes too much about the original for my taste. It's kinda like those direct to video sequels that will always trash the original script in whatever fashion possible.

Don't get me wrong it has some good ideas but needs serious rework to fit the original concepts of the first TOEE.

HMMM.... a 'Phantom Edit' of return might just be interesting...

Hey Skylark,

Just finishing up Return in 3.5. Should have one or two sessions left. They're facing Imix next session...

I'd absolutely recommend Temple of Elemental Evil if you like that old style adventure. I would absolutely NOT recommend Return. We seriously had to struggle to finish it. And in the end it was more onerous than enjoyable...AND we cut some of it out.

The bulk of it is just one encounter after another in a remote location w/ little coherent plot or role playing opportunity. It might be a whole different ball of wax in C&C though...can't say.

What are the rules for how much text you have to put in a post and how often you have to post?

Nope. Mainly because I live on the Pacific timezone where "good time" for me is "too late" for everyone else, and "dinner time" for me is "halfway through the session" for everyone else. That, and my Thursday and Friday nights are not exactly available.
