Rune Mark
Is anyone using this class? I love the concept, but I am struggling to understand how it works. It says that at 6th level the Rune Mark no longer needs to write the rune to make spells work. So how or what is required to write a rune? Parchment, stone, crayon?
There are several passages in the book eluding to runes that are not included in the list. Will more runes come out in a supplement?
Anyone know?

I've never seen a write up on this class like would appear in a PHB.Snoring Rock wrote:Is anyone using this class? I love the concept, but I am struggling to understand how it works. Re: Rune Mark
I haven't played one yet, but it's on the list.
As far as no longer needing to "write" the runes at 6th level, my impression was that this meant one could trace them in the air, water, or other surface without need of writing utensils. With regard to expanding the runes included in Rune Lore, I think that there's opportunity (and looking at one of the stretch goals of the Codex Nordica Kickstarter makes me wonder if there will be some included in that supplement), but what I would have liked included in the Rune Lore book is a bit more in the way of guidelines for making new runes.
Re: Rune Mark
I have yet to use it, I just keep having my version in my house rules get played. So I haven't fully figured out how to use Rune Lore myself, and am fundamentally against doing so since its yet another, rather large, subsystem I would have to add to my C&C game.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

The Runes look interesting, but I haven't tried it yet.

Re: Rune Mark
I'm actually running a rune mark gnome right now. How we play and my best understanding on the intention of Steve when he was writing it up is this:
To cast a rune it must be drawn and spoken, when drawing a rune it can be done with a finger or stylus but must be drawn on something, take snare, you must draw snare on something e.g. the ground where you wish to cast it.
At 6th level you gain the ability to trace the rune to cast it. What this means is that you can cast certain runes by speaking them and tracing with your stylus or finger in the air, they no longer have to be physically drawn on something.
You also at a latter level gain the ability to verbalize rune. This means that certain runes may be cast by their verbal component alone.
Not all runes can be traced or verbalized, unfortunately there isn't a handy list of what can be traced and verbalized, but each rune will say if they can't be in the description

Re: Rune Mark
I just got a copy of Rune Lore today, in fact. I'm really interested in it; but I was curious. In the book, they list the initiate, winter and airdhe runes. Are they going to release the others? I saw somewhere, someone mentioned it being expanded upon in Codex Nordica. However, the Rune Mark and its magic seem pretty tied up in Airdhe.

That was my impression, Rock. I believe they're going to make them available at a later time. As to when? I don't know. I would assume they're going to be in Airhde products forthcoming.
