I will likely implement this in the next few gaming sessions (along with runes) just to try it out. Lots of potential here and looking forward to trying it out.

In that short-time though I've seen plenty of typos and formatting issues, which is unfortunate. This book has been a long time coming and I think it could be a serious contender for this years ENies or top RPG Supplement award. My hope is that those issues don't distract from the over all concept and value of this book.
Ya know, when I was replying to CaptainK earlier, I gave it a strong B, overall. But I'll likey up that to an A, just based on the orginality and freshness. The only reason I'm running into so many questions is because I'm actually trying to work through the book and make characters using the features, and yes, it's brought up numerous queries and I'm interested to see how folks impliment the ideas. Please post and let us know as you do.

Master Class Level
Natural Armor Adj
Int/Wis
Special

Each of the Master Class columns has a varying "range", depending on the class (that is, when the animal companion increases in power).

My question...does the famliiars HD increase with each of these levels?
Sorry for reposting, but no one's responded to this one, and I'm not sure if it's because no one else knows, or no one saw the question, lol. But see above and let me know your thoughts. I'm not sure if the HD of the companion/familiar is supposed to increase with the "masters class level" or not?

I'm actually leaning towards just increasing the HD at the same intervals as the AC adjustment (each chart for each class is slightly different from what I've seen).

I'm just concerned about "overly powerful" familiars/companions.

OK, I found my own answer. Top of page 13, first column.

Now, my next question, that same section on page 13 (actually starts at the bottom of page 12, Familiar Basics), does that apply to both Familiars AND Animal Companions? Or is there a different ruling on Animal Companions somewhere I'm missing?

EDIT - OK, looks like Companions are handled different, according to Animal Companion, p.16 (follows all the rules laid out under the Animal Friendship spell).

Much easier tomb to read when looking at a hard copy :D

Got my tee-shirt today. Would have looked better if the dragon at least had been in color. Almost looks like just a dragon-shaped black spot. Still. Something to wear to work Monday. :)

So I loaned my BoF to one of my players who's character is a Human Knight (2nd Level). As we've discussed making his mount a familiar. He talked to me this week about some challenges with the book. Specifically, the Chapter on Paladins and Knights. It's mentioned in the Table Contents for both, but it really is only geared to Paladins other than a mention of different types of Knights which seems totally inappropriate for the book.

What happened with Knight specific information on their types of familiars/companions??????

I have the same concern. I've got a player who loves her horse and would love to explore how it could be even "cooler" but all the material is targeted at the paladin.
In the words of my good friend Trevor, "Hey, put an arrow in that flying mummy! What could possibly happen?"
