Codex Celtarum Music

Post by TheMetal1 »

Stumbled across a cool site while looking at Grymvald Gazetteer Blog ( http://www.grymvald.com/ )

It is a link to Irish Archaeology, a blog about - obviously - Irish Archaeology and it has pictures and video of musical instruments discovered on digs along with the replicas and videos/audios of replicas making music. Might make a cool backdrop or sound effect for you next Codex Celtarum game. Here is the link:

This is perfect! Have you heard the Carnyx music from John Kenny? That is really good as well. I dig up the really older tribal sounding music (Clann na Drumna, Albannach, Satolstelamanderfanz, etc) for the real fast paced action and battle, and the mystical tunes (Clannad and an endless list). Someday I should post the massive list of my Celtarum tunes over the years on here for everyone. I collect Celtic music to begin with, so I have plenty in every language, but there are many that are appropriate for this alone!

Good find!

I have not heard it until now, thanks for the info. We were messing around in our last game with each player blasting music from the phones as their PC "theme" music in battle. Obituary, Celtic Frost and few other death metal tunes were what I was using for the Goblins. Then switched over to some stuff that Fantasy Craft RPG used with one of their modules as background music. It does add to the atmosphere of the game.

Have a question for you though, a bit off topic - how would you add in the Fey Realm and Codex Celtarum to the A-Series?

I would slowly dabble with integrating them, a little here and there first to test the waters. The abilities can easily knock things out of balance if not handled well alone. Use the smaller faery-folk first as you go for example, and not always as the enemy either. Replace the basic goblin with the 'Fuath' or the other Celtic variations along the way. Once the Codex Nordica is out do the same with the trolls and giants, replace them with the Norse versions as you go and see what happens. It will change the feel of things.
