I win! I win all the Internets! Yay!!!

These Gandalf threads pop up pretty regularly on the Interwebz. My inner anthropologist is fascinated by the strong feelings they evoke.
Yep. These conversations actually date back well before the WWW.

Heck, I remember all the debates we had while playing the Middle Earth RPG back in the 80's, which was before the WWW became anywhere close to being commonly accessed. So yeah, a long standing point of "debate".
I still have a soft spot for the original MERP. It's pretty much the only version of RM I'd have the guts to play again!
Me too, even though I am still willing to play Rolemaster, but only if I fail to talk them into an easier system first!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Rolemaster was my first RPG.... I never played it. I wasn't allowed D&D as a teen, because it was the devil! So, I picked up RM. Cool game... way to complicated.

Yeah, but that was mostly because of the tables. With todays tech options and better layout and organization it wouldn't be all that bad, certainly not worse than other "complex" systems I like to play, such as Legend of the 5 Rings, Eclipse Phase, and Aces and Eights with all the optional rules used. Basic Aces and Eights is even simpler than C&C.

RM was very detailed, but not complicated. Roll d100, apply modifiers, look up result on chart. Easy!

Of course, it was keeping track of the detailed modifiers and numerous charts that some folks found overwhelming ...

You have managed to make Gandalf high-powered without giving him a ton of spells. This is the most accurate depiction of him for a d20 game I've seen.
