Hey Trolls, with you doinng the KS'...

How about you take advantage of us supporters by giving us the PDF early enough to catch editing errors? The errors you have at least in the soft cover print version of the Codex Nordica is pretty embarrassing. If that was printed from the same version you used for the HC version, its even more embarrassing. I think it has the highest count of errors in a while. So utilize us, give us the PDF early enough to do a hunt for the errors even TWO editors apparently missed.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Doesn't take long to rip through a PDF and find the obvious stuff. Took me a day after getting the CKG PDF...

With Codex Nordica I had found about a dozen of the errors in under an hour.

It takes longer for the not so obvious stuff. :)

It is not an easy job. In the title of this thread and the second post, are two mistakes I see. I did not get the bonus so I have not received anything yet. I will tell you that the errors in spelling, missing words and the gaping holes in rules is wearing me down. If I receive this book full of errors, I may just be done with TLG. I have spent a lot of my money on this. I think I deserve the product with reasonable quality.

Release the PDF so it can get proofread.

Sure but the major, glaring stuff is easy. The grammar and misspelling takes a while to ferret out. Cross referencing rules in the same book is difficult unless one is specifically looking for such.

I am just talking spelling stuff. If the PDF they used for this is the same they used for the HC print run, the two editors should be embarrassed, very much so. They missed a lot of very obvious mistakes. At least I have yet to come across anything that makes it hard to interpret the rules, or hard to understand any of the material. Its just irritating stuff, like leaving out the word "be", and some of the wording I find to be very awkward, but Steve does that to, just not the same ways.

Still, lets keep this in context, there isn't a RPG company out there that doesn't have such errata in every single book they publish. Even Wizards had over a hundred pages of errata on their 4th edition books. Just I would like to see the Trolls take the time to make use of every resource they have to produce as error free products as they can, so if they can give us a week to take a look at the PDF for any release they do, I think they can get below 6 errors per product, and maybe even occasionally beat the odds and have no mistakes.

I like the idea of distributing the editing to many eyes, but given the number of people backing the various C&C products, it might introduce a new level of difficulty. Not that I think everyone who Kickstarted a product would respond with corrections, even 50 emails with suggested edits (grammar or spelling only) would take a good chunk of time to compile. Perhaps setting up a quick chapter by chapter distributed plan so that each chapter has a percentage of people directed to focus on it would both speed up the project on the checking side and also reduce the amount of work done on the Troll Lords' side.

Well, the Trolls can ask for those who are willing to do it, which knowing gamers, will be less than 20, probably less than 12, and that would be much easier for them. That or they can just distribute it to those of us who are active in the current errata threads.

I'm up for it. I used to (and still occasionally) do some proofreading/editing for Wiggy Wade-Williams at Triple Ace Games. I'd be more than happy to help.

It's an interesting idea, and it might be something worth looking into, especially in a part of the knights of the crusade. We will discuss this further and see if it is something we can incorporate.
