Woohoo!
Woohoo!
Scott Haring is back for the relaunch of the new edition of Car Wars! Whoot! Yeah, yeah, I know, most of you haven't even played it, but I have, and it was good fun! So looking forward to seeing the old and the new back in print.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I played it a few times. The best part was shopping for car mods in the various catalogs.

Uncle Albert's was awesome. I once had a teacher think that they were real catalogs.Fiffergrund wrote:I played it a few times. The best part was shopping for car mods in the various catalogs.

I picked up the Deluxe version back in the mid-80s! Had no idea what the heck I was doing, but dang it was cool.
Pulled out the old set a year or two ago to try it out again and had fun. Even managed a few games on Vassal.
I'm hoping that it will be a Kickstarter along the line of the Ogre Designer Edition. Very glad to see the this coming back.

Yeah Uncle Al's was great - ah the days of Catalogs now long gone. I wonder if they'll stay retro or we'll get an Uncle Al's Website. Now that would be a cool way to do a Hero Lab like program for Car Wars. Customer order your car in Hero Lab/Army Builder and then get a PDF Print out.Eisenmann wrote:Uncle Albert's was awesome. Not that I've seen Car Wars in the last 18 yrs, but I have a series of race track pieces with one-inch 'spaces' that can be printed from their pdfs onto card stock, cut out, and assembled to make a lot of varying type tracks that I think would work with Car Wars movement in anyone is interested.

I'm very interested in this project. I can't remember if I got to play this in the 80's, but a friend of mine had it. I remember the Uncle Albert's book. I'll have to keep abreast of this one.
