4x6 Character Sheets

Post by MrGrim »

Thought I'd share the character sheets I designed for use with C&C and other old school editions of the game. These are intended to be printed on 4x6 index cards. There is a file for the front and the back of the character sheet and then a second set (front and back) for spell users.

They are brand new as I made them only a couple weeks ago. Another thing you can do for effect is get one of these fancy index card boxes to store them in...

http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/4 ... ard-Box-4/

I have "THE BOX" on the middle of the table with fresh bic mechanical pencils (one for each player) carefully arranged atop it along with spare dice when the players arrive. Little touches like this add a little "substance" to the feel of things (my games are all narrative, no minis these days).

I keep all my group's characters in the box along with other errata like monster stats, NPCs, maps, etc. 90% of what I bring to the table is on a 4x6. It's a great form factor. You can use 4x6 separators to arrange the cards in the box to keep things neat.

Nice! Especially the spell cards! I used to do all my 1E characters and NPC's on Index Cards, so now I just need to figure out how to use them in my printer.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Very nice stuff, thanks for sharing. I had a friend who had sheets that printed on 8.5" by 11" but in a sort of quarter fold. double sided with hinder info on the inside and public info on the out, very nice for PCs and NPCs alike.. If there is any interest, I'll see if I can get a copy to post.

I think we should ref to them as "GRIMCARDS"? If they are your invention..

Nice idea to put them on index cards. Given how crowded the gaming table can get at times, reducing the size of character sheet can make a difference.

Ya know what would be nice if there was a form-fillable version, so that I could fill it with data from my Hero Lab plugin.

 Yeah, I was thinking that too, just for personal reasons. I've been getting really spoiled by the form fill-able versions going around for the various RPG's I play, there is a full form fill-able character sheet available for C&C at least.

Treebore,

Yes, I've written a Java app to fill that fullsize 2-page PDF from output from my Hero Lab plugin.

It's about 50% done, still needs some work for inventory items.

Speaking of stuff to put on 4x6 cards, I printed this out the other day:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxxIbZk ... lFyTGtFTkk

It's sitting in a card box ready for one of those days when nothing's prepped. It also has a low intimidation factor for players in the group who might want to DM a game but not read a big scary book. It makes heavy use of pictures, icons, position and color to convey information.

That is fricking INCREDIBLE! Love it! You gotta talk to the Trolls about marketing it!

The picture based sheets might be good starting points for the new CK screens?
