Will the color Monsters & Treasure have a new layout?

The forthcoming new printing of the Players Handbook will have a new layout, resulting in it being 192 pages. Will the new printing of Monsters & Treasure also have a new layout (and thus a higher page count than previous printings)?

Good question. Presumably they will, to make it easier to read, etc... but I haven't seen anything to specifically address this. I know errata is being addressed.

Nobody really likes to assume things, but sometimes it is O.K. to do. With the announcement on how they are going to handle the PH, and assuming they are going to want the M&T to resemble the PH, I'd say it is a safe bet that the M&T will get the same treatment as this seems to be the whole purpose behind this Kickstarter, otherwise they'd just reprint the existing books.

I don't think colour is the only motivating factor.

I've never kickstarted anything, but the kickstarter for the 3 books + extras looks compelling.

Still, it would seem foolish for me to back this if I am not sure if they are incorporating those errata.

Well, Steve has said they are addressing all errata, its only been most obvious that they are with the PH, but they are supposed to do the needed fixes in the M&T and CKG. Then again, they have been supposed to do that for several printings now in both the PH and M&T. Hopefully this time they are serious about it, as claimed.

Well know body really knows except for Steve and Co. But, I'm putting faith to it as them doing a whole new layout (Bigger fonts etc.) is one of the few times they will actually be able to "start from scratch."

With the bigger fonts, I wonder if this means a rebirthing of the digest books?

It is curious. Many of these edits are not changes to game philosophy, or user-centric wishlist changes. Most of these edits are legitimate concerns that absolutely must be addressed to make the C&C game work. The M&T is LONG overdue in these changes. TLG needs to step up and get most, if not all of these edits/changes/corrections addressed.

I'm also wondering if we'll see knew artwork. I love Peter Bradely's sketches for Monsters & Treasure, but I can't help but thinking that some monsters might look better with different artwork.

Also, will we see a different picture of the Night Hag? The picture on page 46 of Monsters and Treasures always bothered me because it was obviously meant for a Sea Hag (which must have been cut from the book). The picture with the sea and the lighthouse doesn't go with the Night Hag at all.

Yeah, I never understood why the picture of the gnome had a snout and long ears. Maybe some people picture a gnome like that, but not me.

Ahh, preferences are so funny. I like that odd looking gnome in the M&T! Never liked the typical look of a gnome in D&D.

You know, "Gnomes As Skinny Dwarves" always irked me. I have always felt that every time a new race is introduced that looks very similar to another one actually detracts from existing archtypes. Gnomes that look like dwarves that look like halflings that look like ...whatever. I like making each race very different from each other, and am loathe to have varieties of subraces, like the million elf offshoots that some people like in their games. But whatever, everyone is allowed to enjoy the game in whatever way they enjoy. I have to say that the Peter Bradley version, along with the more earthy, animal kin type of description, was very refreshing indeed when I stumbled upon C&C back in the day.

Yes gentleman, all the edits from the M&T thread are being added to the new printing. We've brought on Trav to give it a tighter edit as well. He's working on that right now.

As for the layout, I"m not sure the layout is going to change. I honestly haven't talked to Peter about. Though not sure what your angling at? The monsters will be in alphabetical order as they are now, and so will the treasure. The pictures will be with the stat blocks, etc etc

Gnomes were depicted as such LONG before RPGs. That's why it's weird to change them to bipedal donkeys. It would be like depicting elves as fat, warty with octopus tentacles.

No, I'm fine with the M&T's layout as-is. If you are changing the font type or size in the PHB, I'd also change the font in the M&T so the books will match.

Yes indeed. We are switching title fonts to match. I believe...though not 100% certain...that the text font remains. It is my favorite font, so its unlikely Peter will change it as I'll start grumbling at him.

I would venture it has more to do with the use of the word "edition" over "printing" and what followed, on that thread and others, and much less to do with the correction entries.
