Proper use of C&C logos?

Post by Pat Payne »

If this isn't the right part of the forums, please move it to where it ought to go. Thanks!

Hi --

Since my Saturday group plays in a public place (a Coffee Bean in Torrance), I was thinking of putting up a small sign using the C&C logo to attract any other Coffee Bean customers who might be gamers into trying C&C. Just something like "Hi -- we're playing Castles and Crusades. If you're interested, feel free to ask questions or jump into the adventure!" (The people at the Coffee Bean are perfectly fine with us doing this, BTW)

1) Just to get the legal question out of the way, is it permissable to unofficially use the C&C logo in this way, as it probably doesn't actually qualify as sanctioned, organized Knights of the Crusade play? I'm fairly certain the answer is "of course, go for it!" but 'tis much better to ask for permission beforehand than forgiveness afterwards. :D

2) If so, are there any ground rules for proper use of the logo -- for instance is there any certain source I have to go for the logo, or any restrictions on how it is composed graphically in the sign, or any disclaimer, trademark/copyright indicia or other info you'd want me to put there?

Thanks for any advice!

Not sure anyone who can make that call will see this, so I'd recommend emailing Steve directly: troll@trolllord.com

@Pat -- It is perfectly acceptable to use it for that purpose, show it with pride! LOL Really it's like most any other trademarked logo, as long as you are using in a good manner and not changing it, then it's fine. We are more than happy for it to be seen as many places as possible. :-) Thanks for asking about it, though, it's very thoughtful of you.

Tim
