So What Now

I am a bit of a C&C newb but last night I bought A0-A9 for $2 each on PDF via RPGnow.com and I also grabbed the Crusader bundle, After Winters Dark, the Aihrde map, and DB1 for a look. Not a bad deal at all for around $40 although I was kind of wishing I could fined dead tree versions but postage is expensive from New Zealand.

Short term plans read up on Aihrde:).

So is there any more things I should look at in the short term? It seems D&DN is not for me and I am leaning toward ACKs/C&C/Pathfinder for my new D&D fix in addition to my existing library. This weekends purchases have been an early birthday present for me, 36 in a few week.

Assuming you have read all of your new acquisitions and have money burning a hole in your pocket, the Haunted Highland books (Player's and Castlekeepers Guide) are nice. Just depends on what your plans are.

It sounds like you are gearing up for an Aihrde campaign, in which case, maybe the Haunted Highlands is not the logical next purchase. Monsters and Treasures of Aihrde might be a better choice in that case.

I did not buy that one due to $$$. I went for cheap:). I assume MaToA has the Ungern stas in it? Also after a map of the Ascalon through to Aufstag area. I'll probably tweak the pantheon a bit but added Unkler to a new Pantheon I am working on.

Yeah, definitely understand wanting to wait for a low sticker price. I have purchased all of my C&C books at hugely discounted rates, which is tremendously easy to do. Troll Lords runs special, limited-time only "sales" all the time. As an example, over the holidays I picked up Classic Monsters, Monsters and Treasures of Aihrde and Gods and Monsters for around $30.

And, Yes. Ungern are in that book. They get about a 1.5 page treatment.

You have enough books. The rest comes from you and your group. Unless you have extraordinarily jaded players, you have enough material there to keep them busy and interested and do anything you want to do. More books just means more reading.

Agreed. Playing the game is much more fulfilling than reading about it. That said, I'd strongly recommend Monsters & Treasures of Airdhe when you find the right sale. The content is great regardless of whether you set your game in Airdhe. Hlubane orcs are just plain cool and fit in anywhere.

Also on the agreed train, sounds like you've got enough to start planning out adventures. If you're stuck on dungeon creation though, there's Troll Lord Games' Engineering Dungeons and Goodman Games' Dungeon Alphabet. But, I tend to grab those for periods Castle Keeper's block. If you don't have said condition, it's rewarding enough to create your own swathe of adventuring throughout Aihrde.

Thanks ofr the replies everyone. I just like reading D&D type material. It will take a while to digest all ofthis and we are currently playing A3 which I own in dead tree format and PDF.

$2 PDF adventures are great BTW. Prefer a real copy but if they are cheap enough PDFs are fine.

I like to have a lot of random tables around. There are many on RPGNow for a dollar or two. The problem is if you have too many you forget where they are. Ultimate Toolbox has been useful for me; it has random tables for lots of common situations.

Sometimes the best stuff to read is non-RPG related, and even non-fantasy related. Just plain reading, learning about the world, getting ideas.
