Advantages - how many at once
Advantages - how many at once
Hello!
Is it possible to use more than one advantage during one combat round - for example using sacrificing reposte which ends in a cleave attack after bringing the attacker down? Or using dodge together with cleave?
Following the letter of the rules I can't find something that speaks against it. But it appears to be a little weired... example:
Goblin 1, 2 and 3. Dodging against Gobling 1 I hit Goblin 2 with a riposte, bringing him down which enables me to attack Goblin 3 because of a cleave attack? How do I kill 2 Goblins while concentrating on a third one to dodge all his attacks?

Which rule book? The CKG or the C&C PHB?Cyric wrote:Hello!

In general, common sense must rule.
If something logically prevents something else, then both do not work at once.

Talking about the CKG, optional rules section at the end of the book.Arduin wrote: Which rule book? The CKG or the C&C PHB?
Sure. But sometimes it's easier to show the players a page straight from the rulesbook instead of talking common sense into them.serleran wrote:In general, common sense must rule.

Damn players. Always wanting to see it in writing. I used to be that way, too. Way back in the orchards.
Re: Advantages - how many at once
Ok. CKG Advantages are situational. The CK must decide, especially in combat (10 seconds of time) what can be accomplished depending on the specific circumstances at that moment. Unless you wanted extreme complexity of rules it is best to judge yourself.Cyric wrote:Talking about the CKG, optional rules section at the end of the book.Arduin wrote: Which rule book? As far as your players wanting something in writing, write them a note on a sticky. You ARE the GM after all.

Psalm 73:26
"Knowledge, logic, reason, and common sense serve better than a dozen rule books."
"Rules not understood should have appropriate questions directed to the publisher; disputes with the Dungeon Master are another matter entirely. THE REFEREE IS THE FINAL ARBITER OF ALL AFFAIRS OF HIS OR HER CAMPAIGN."

Re: Advantages - how many at once
If you want a 'by the book ruling', consider the following taken from the Player's Handbook under Combat Terms in the Combat section (page 170 in the 6th printing PHB):
Action: During each combat round, a character or monster may either attack, cast a spell, move, use an ability, use an item, or simply perform some other non-letal action such as talking or standing still.
What was originally described seems to be three actions and not one. Obviously this is to the CKs discretion.

Thx. This is so easy and clear - that it's easy to not be taken into account.
