Show Your Collection

Post by galladril »

I always love seeing threads like this, so I figured I would make one here.

Truth be known, this is only about 1/3rd of my C&C collection, as I have it kinda split across the country (long story.)

But as I was organizing my books into a newer bookcase, I realized I either:

A) Have a problem.

B) Am completely normal. :P

My pics are way out of date. I want to take new ones, but I have to get my new gaming room set up first, which has been a trial because my daughter had to move back in. My game room used to be her room. So now we share the space.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

If I had it all in one place, I would be glad to, but its on several shelves with other stuff. Plus, who wants to see the blue binder labeled "book of death" (containing unpublished monsters)? Not me!

The answer to most people is A, but in this forum, "you need more dude" would be the only acceptable answer ;}

The Black Book of Death NEEDS to be published, even unedited.. ;}

My goal is to minimize not expand, simpler game "version", less books, back to the basics, yet somehow creep is occurring again??? One of the reasons I left behind DnD at 3.5. Uhgh!

This is the most recent pics I took, last year. Realize this is only 4 bookshelf units, all but one smaller than the 7 I have now in my new game room.

Tree....I salute you. 3 copies of Castle Whiterock, 2 copies of Rappan Athuk and 2 copies of Castle Zagyg. This is quite a collection and I assume this is just your RPGs, Board Games are not included?

Yeah, I don't have lots of board games, less than 2 dozen. Plus once I can take pics of everything in my new game room, you will see stuff I still have out in storage tubs in my garage. I just need my daughter to move back out of the room first.

I have Bluffside, but I'm not sure about any related maps and modules? Which would those be? Codex Celtarum module? Must have missed that one. ANd, I still need the extra modules with Haunted Highlands.

Not as organized as I usually have it because we recently moved things around, but here they are...

Bookcase 1: ImageBookcase 2: ImageBookcase 3: Image

Case 1 contains my C&C collection, lots of AD&D and Basic D&D stuff, 2e D&D Ravenloft boxed sets, Torchbearer RPG, an OSRIC A5 sized print, my robotech novel series, and a Star Trek TNG core book. Case 1 also contains my CD collections of Classic Traveller stuff, my Campaign Cartographer discs, and several blank notebooks with plastic covers to be used for campaign notes.
Case 2 contains 4e D&D, 5e D&D, some 3e modules (sunless citadel path and shackled city), Traveller, Numenera, The Strange, Dresden Files RPG, Hollow Earth Expedition, Gamma World, Savage Worlds, Mouseguard, 13th Age, Deadlands: Reloaded, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, and Pendragon 5.1.
Case 3 contains FATE core, Kingdom, Microscope, Swords & Wizardry, 2e D&D, Call of Cthulhu, more classic Traveller (the reprints), 3e D&D core, Weird Wars: Rome, Ringworld, and my AD&D reprints.

Here is my main C&C bookshelf:
Image
My 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th printings of the PHB are two shelves down and the rest of my Gygaxian Fantasy worlds books are on bookcase 2. The only things I am missing are the CKG (I loaned to a friend and then backed the KS for a full color one, so told him to keep it), Rune Lore, Codex Celtarum, Codex Nordica, and Bluffside (all three of which are part of my KS pledge).

Oh, and the BLACK BOX - wouldn't it look so pretty next to the red and white digest sized boxes on my shelf? Alas, not at GenCon, but hopefully they will have enough to sell through the TLG store.

I believe there were 100 copies of Black Box at GenCon. To my understanding the total run is 1,000 copies. Once they're gone, they're gone apparently.

My stuff is scattered across shelves too, plus a lot of it is in opaque boxes. Maybe next time I move stuff around I'll take a picture.

Northman, Towers of Adventure is out of print. James Ward wrote that one for TLG. I think I asked Stephen (on the way back from GenCon) if that product might come back in some sort of regular-sized softcover. I don't think he ruled out the idea, then again he was pretty groggy at the time. Todd and Stephen slept some, and I was the guy who talked politics, classic rock, pop culture, and gaming, to keep the drivers awake. Seriously, I think Towers of Adventure would be great (bare minimum) as a 12-20 dollar softcover. Expanding it with more material would be even better. *cough cough* Stephen? Jim?

Oh...off subject but I think on the drive home is the best time to ask for things....then you can say well you said.... :O)

Hmmm, hope it does make it out.

I of course will have to find a copy of it....at least the collector in me....

I am going to take some photos of my collection but...kind of wanted to wait for the three sisters to show. :O)

Like I said, I don't know that it's officially in the pipeline or anything. You have to remember, I probably had 30 "Stephen, I think this would be a good idea" moments on the way back from GenCon. ;) As for the boxed version of Towers of Adventure, I'd shop around. I'm no expert, but I would think this one could be found for a reasonable price. Like anything, watch out for Ebay and Amazon gougers who charge through the nose because something is out of print, or because it was written by Jim Ward. I think the original price was 30.00, but may have been cheaper later on. I've used it on occasion when I need some new 4-hour convention games. Mine is signed by Mr. Ward, I mean Jim. If you ever see him at a con, he's a super nice guy. He was more than happy to run Beneath the Dome for us last year at Gamehole Con.

Well I failed my resistance roll.....just grabbed from Nobleknight....along with a few other things....

White Box $60 being a Spartan #23/300.......this one was higher than I wanted to pay but.....I kept getting outbid on eBay. Plus a decent low number for the collector part of me. Goes with my Black Box #21/300 (Which unfortunately the bottom part had some rub spots from the drive back from Gencon, contemplating getting another Black Box for that reason.) Only reason I grabbed was due to the other stuff being available.

Tower of Adventures I paid $40....it said in NM condition so we will see. If originally $30 I am fine with a $10 increase.

In Search of Adventure Free RPG Day 2012 ...$12. Yea paid to much for this as well....but use to live in Anchorage, AK and didn't usually get a chance to grab stuff. Usually gone by the time got there. Plus only noticed Castles and Crusades Gencon 2013...with the Kickstarter Campaign for the three sisters going strong since. Got to play it Gencon 2014 and now I am a convert!

Then that Flip Book I mentioned that was at Noble Knight Games....snagged the 2014 version. $21.95.

Kind of like a perfect storm....

Saw the Tower of Adventures at what I considered an acceptable price....

Knew I mentioned the Flip Book here on the forums so wasn't sure how long it would stay their, so placed in basket.....

Wanted to add stuff to the order to "spread" the shipping out among products.....

Which made me grab the White Box that has been itching at me since the end of the Three Sisters campaign. (Had a white box in my cart but didn't pull the trigger on the purchase until to late on TLG site.)........

Then recently snagged 2013 Free RPG module off eBay for $3.00, and got the 2014 Free RPG day (had to call from Phoenix, AZ a game store in Hood River, OR to reserve me the copy they got for Free RPG day.

Figured out, or at least as far as I can tell, that the Free RPG day stuff isn't available in PDF off of DrivthruRPG.com.

So finally added that 2012 Free RPG day product even though $12 is a bit high for it. (Which the BGG's RPG side says its a box set....is it?

Doom for my wallet as DF kickstarters go....

Yea failed my roll.....

The 2nd row with the drawers, hold all the adventures my wife wrote for Beyond the Supernatural, that she ran for 5 years. The next row top shelf is the entire Wheel of Time series. The next 2 shelves down is my wifes Hardy Boy's and Nancy Drew collection. The bottom 2 shelves are photo albums. Nice collection!

Had not realized there was two different versions Dark Chateau. I don't have one yet...but will eventually as well as a Upperworks, The East Gazeeter, and the Store House District.

Plus I like the original printings of Blacktooth Ridge and others. Its made me think about trying to get some original copies of the modules.....I might have problem.

Is there a C&C support group?

EDIT: I am in fact close to grabbing the signed East Gazeeter that Noble Knight Games by Gary. Just that is a premium price they have it at....

You found In Search of Adventure? I missed that one. Only because I forgot it was Free RPG Day. I techincally don't have the frpg day version Druid's Lament either. At least TLG released that later as a part of their product line.

Hadn't realized they did release Druids Lament later....if Looked of course might of found it. :O) Guess didn't look since had it.

I am curious about the earlier quick start rules released as part of the Free RPG days but not $40 which is what Noble Knight is doing.

12 for In Search of Adventure is probably steep, but 40 for the quickstart rules. i've got one or two different qs booklets they did. Might have included the old 1 dollar pdf, The Wizard's Tower. Good, but not worth anywhere near 40. That's highway robbery. If you hadn't mentioned the seller, I would have assumed this was the work of delusional ebay and amazon gougers. Seriously though, if you ever see a semi-affordable copy of In Search of Adventure again, I might have to acquire that.
