Monsters & Treasure Four
Monsters & Treasure 4 had left my desk and headed to layout. Changes in the book include the following
1) Full color interior art
2) Light clean up of text
3) Clarification of some magic items
4) Notations taken from the Message Boards here
5) Slight alterations to experience points
6) Armor/Weapon Magic Item charts cleaned up and made more accessible
7) Tracking ability for monsters created. They track as a level of ranger. For instance a wolf has Tracking 10. he tracks as a 10th level ranger
8) Initiative clarification on tie
Some other light stuff, but she should be print ready by next week.
IF that happens we'll send to all backers in digital format for one week. Anything you guys find that needs fixed, that we missed, just let us know via email.
But we'll go to print 7 days after that and there aint no going back! Well until 5th printing. haha

Need new M&T book to go with lonely new PHB. I look forward to this new printing, and the added/clarified wording and tables. Awesome stuff. Plus, the cover of it is totally kick-booty!

Any clarification to the Magic Item creation? i.e. any input from the discussion below and others...

Did you put this in the thread when the Trolls were asking for errata on that book a couple months ago?TheMetal1 wrote:Any clarification to the Magic Item creation? i.e. any input from the discussion below and others...

One we found last night was it doesn't say if black dragon spit is a line or cone.

Yes, omitted. However, "A black dragon’s breath weapon is a searing caustic mist".
That wouldn't work as a Line. So at least the GM can figure it out easily enough.
Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
Well, the problems was, its a "spit", so a line, like Lightning, so we did have confusion. "Mist" can spread out, or be a "line" spray, so not really helpful.Arduin wrote:Aergraith wrote:One we found last night was it doesn't say if black dragon spit is a line or cone.

IE is it a sneezing "spray" that spreads out, or is it a "spit", like a nasty glob of chewing tobacco being spit out? The CK went with a Line.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

If something comes out like a mist, you aren't going to get a "line" of any real length. It will be a cloud like manifestation. Not a line. When you spit tobacco it doesn't come out of your mouth as a mist but a liquid. So, either the Trolls made it a mist (so not a line) or they mistakenly used the word "mist".
Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
Mists are mists -- they are not mist(akes.)
Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
Pretty sure i mentioned it or someone did. Do you have the original link to that thread?Arduin wrote:Did you put this in the thread when the Trolls were asking for errata on that book a couple months ago?TheMetal1 wrote:Any clarification to the Magic Item creation? i.e. any input from the discussion below and others...

On another topic reference experience points: any chance we might see average xp for each monster as an index? Someone here did an excelent pdf which works well for me as opposed to using the xp code.
Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
I intend on showing my work once the book is published.
Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
I'd go with line. A line of mist, i suppose. or it's a line a rapidly evaporating venom that for all intents and purposes, becomes a mist so quickly that is makes a line of mist.
(Blarney at its finest, me lads)
Also, it's a line in the d20 SRD.

Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
As to the interior style, will it match the PH? By that I mean, have the same cool parchment border colors and gloss pages. It would be odd to have the pages white, I think, when sitting open next to the other books.
And I noticed that larger font size wasn't mentioned, so I assume it will remain the same. I was hoping for the larger font size in both the M&T and CKG as well, since my old eyes can't see the print without glasses, but the new PH I can (praise Bejeebus).

There is; at the top of each topic there is a link called "Bookmark Topic" and your bookmarks are found in your User Control Panel.Arduin wrote:

Thanks for the pointer.
Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
Just because it wasn't mentioned doesn't mean it's not going to be present. If I recall, getting Monsters & Treasure to look like the Players Handbook was one of the stretch goals of the Kickstarter. Same with the Castle Keeper's Guide.Piperdog wrote:As to the interior style, will it match the PH? By that I mean, have the same cool parchment border colors and gloss pages. Re: Monsters & Treasure Four
The preview on the projects page lists it as 150+ pages, so that would indicate the upgrade in font for sure Eric.Piperdog wrote:As to the interior style, will it match the PH?
