Yup. Theirs should be Wis.
I've no problem with Rangers being STR prime, but let's concede that it should be WIS for the sake of discussion. Wouldn't it be far more simple just to change their prime, rather than a fundamental tenet of the game.
Of course. That's why I think it should be Wis. Wanting EVERYTHING to be prime so no tough choices have to be made is just munchkinism. And, as I originally stated, it erodes one the main differentiators between playing a human and a demi-human.

If you think the class primes are fine the way they are and have players who don't, you can also re-instate the old Prime Requisite XP bonus, except instead of basing it on score base on whether your prime matches your class. So, decide whether you want to keep the class prime and get a 10% XP bonus or put it in something else.

I wouldn't have a panic attack if they changed it to WIS, but I actually kind of like it being STR. I play a lot of Rangers, always have, and I love that in C&C, it's a calculation. What kind of Ranger do you want to play? You know he/she will be strong. The outdoor life has forged a hard character. But what of the class skills? Which do you want to make important to your concept? Or, if you're a human, you don't have to worry so much. It really feels good to me. All class skills being prime would completely remove that kind of meaningful choice. The only real upside I see is convenience and, as you say, munchkinism.

My players are fine the way it is. They too like the meaningful choices that C&C has built into character creation. But I do like this solution. :)

Yes, that also is a good way to look at it. And, it isn't like there is a Ranger school where what is taught is by legislation & law. People will concentrate on certain areas of a profession that they are good at or interested in.

Very good point.
