Crusaders Companion
Crusaders Companion
I'm sure this has been asked before - so sorry for the repeat.
Can someone explain how "official" the Crusaders Companion is?
Or maybe a better question might be, why isn't the Crusaders Companion made "official" and published by Troll Lord Games?
Thanks!
PS -The copy I found a few minutes ago was from 2011 - if there is a newer one can you provide the link? Thanks again!

Re: Crusaders Companion
The problem is how to pay the authors or even get permission from so many.

Re: Crusaders Companion
I would publish it using "Hollywood Accounting Rules" - namely the authors get to share in the profits....except there never are any profits.
Re: Crusaders Companion
About as official as any other fan document. In other words, it's not official.capmarvel wrote:Can someone explain how "official" the Crusaders Companion is?
Re: Crusaders Companion
It's unofficial. Although most of the authors of the material are authors or co-authors of other C&C products. The Trolls gave me permission to use their logos and claim compatibility. There is a new version on the way, done from scratch. Which I will complete after I finish my Calidar conversion. Some of the old version was slopped together and I will be adding new material. I'm estimating page count to be around 500 pages.

Re: Crusaders Companion
Any chance of this being a POD option when it is complete?

For C&C? Interesting...Peter wrote:I finish my Calidar conversion.

Re: Crusaders Companion
Yes, but only after some proofreading by some volunteers. It would bug me to see a bunch of mistakes in printAny chance of this being a POD option when it is complete?
Yes C&C first, than for Dark Dungeons. The C&C conversion is pretty close to complete. I just have to cross-reference spells and magic items and find the closest equivalents, than do the layout. For C&C? Interesting...
Re: Crusaders Companion
I'll volunteer to proofread but I don't have a ton of time. Love the compilation.

I also volunteer to proofread.
Re: Crusaders Companion
Any update on this?
Re: Crusaders Companion
I'll take the deafening silence to my question as either "no update at this time" or "get lost, you annoy us" (or both).

No, I know Peter is still working on this. In fact, the hard part is currently to cut down the document, since the latest version I've seen has over 1,000 pages. Without double checking, I am pretty sure its over 1,300 pages. So if he is going to put all of that into print, he is going to have to break it all up into at least 3 books, probably 4 or 5. That or put as much as he can into 1 book, and leave the rest as a PDF only set of optional material.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: Crusaders Companion
Hmmm... the longest version I am finding is 379 pages, so I will blame the Morphine I was on at the time for recalling a document of over 1,000 pages.

Maybe you were doing metric pages?Treebore wrote:Hmmm... the longest version I am finding is 379 pages, so I will blame the Morphine I was on at the time for recalling a document of over 1,000 pages.

With Morphine, anything is possible.capmarvel wrote:Maybe you were doing metric pages?Treebore wrote:Hmmm... the longest version I am finding is 379 pages, so I will blame the Morphine I was on at the time for recalling a document of over 1,000 pages.
