Re: Verdant Rage -all welcome
That was SO MUCH FUN.
We ended up with three players, one of which took the class and a half option, with one choosing to be multi-classed, and the player completely new to C&C, choosing single class.
The level was uped to 4th.
I'll post more about the actual game play in a bit, but I can honestly say that Verdant Rage has been one of my favorite adventures since having read it, and that opinion was strengthened tenfold after having used it in actual game play.
I kid thee naught: with thirty years of gaming under my belt, this module stands out as a fav. Thaaat's a big deal pour moi.
The characters are now roughly 2/3 way through the story...

I'll also add advantages and secondary skills to this game.
Also, I really liked the options allowed by Fate Points last night, but will be tweaking the amount gained. So in future, the amount of Fate Points a character has will be as per the CKG, but with this addition: characters receive 1 Fate Point per session.

Re: Verdant Rage -you probably missed out
Well, after Victorious gets up and running (finally!) I just might. TLG doesn't allow module writers to keep their copyrights anymore though... So while I still own Shadows of the Halfling Hall and Verdant Rage, any future modules would be TLG owned. Which isn't a deal breaker, but it does influence the amount of time I have to put toward such a project.
BTW, did the overall forest map ever make it into VR? I know the first print run had it missing and was a bit of a bother for some.

Re: Verdant Rage -you probably missed out
Well, if you ever do write another, I'll be the first in line to pick it up.
I have the original version of Verdant Rage I believe, and have owned it for quite some time -I have a back log of modules needing to be run.
It's a print copy and says 2006 on the first page. The only maps are the Town of Camraye, and the abode o' the druid.
That's no problem for me though; I use a very narrative style of CKing and rarely use a mapping program. Occasionally I'll send an image of a forest, etc. for flavour, but that's it.
So the planned encounters are occurring sequentially, when characters head 'that a way'.

Re: Verdant Rage -all welcome
Great stuff as usual Slimy. I was a bit worried with our all druids all the time party composition but the module was well suited to that party actually.slimykuotoan wrote:That was SO MUCH FUN.

The characters are now roughly 2/3 way through the story...
We started off helping a forlorn dryad find a rogue druid. But she left in a huff when our wizard tried to make her fall in love with him
We battled corrupted satyrs, as well as spiders as big as hogs, and wisely avoided trouble from the deranged treant and the flirtatious nymphs and pixies (although by the look in Kayolan's eye, I think he wanted to try to get them to fall in love with him
Most of the combats were a wee bit dangerous for our meager trio, that is until Winnie the Pooh decided to kick a little butt and take a few names (on the down side, Kayolan may be scheming on how to make Winnie fall in love with him
Nice to have a new player in the game. He did a fine job.
Excellent module, Mike
Re: Verdant Rage -you probably missed out
Good ideas. I added secondary skill and advantages to my character. I took "hunter" as my skill even though that is not listed as it suits the character and the deity. Change that if you wantslimykuotoan wrote:I'll also add advantages and secondary skills to this game.

Great posts Aramis!
With regards to your character, I'll assume that the hunter skill is already within the realm o' the druid class, so your character will already have it. So feel free to pick another secondary skill.

Re: Verdant Rage -you probably missed out
Glad to hear everyone has enjoyed the module. SKT, That's actually how I ran the forest as well... I had to put in the forest map as an afterthought for those who play more sandoboxy. I didn't sequence them, but as the party wandered through the wood I'd just check randomly if they made an encounter or not. Only the Druid's abode was in a "solid" locale.
I look forward to reading more about this adventure!

Re: Verdant Rage -you missed out again!
You must not read from the book!
Great game again by slimy. Mike's module is excellent and offers a lot of different challenges. We played with just two players but we managed to get through it. I think our completely random decision to both be druids was hugely beneficial. Kayolan played very smart and I played tough, and it was (barely) enough to survive. Thank the gods for Winnie the Pooh, animal friend extraordinaire. There were a lot of tricky moments though, and we spent a good number of combats on the verge of instant death. At different points both Winnie and I were reduced to but a single HP.
We have decided to use the book to turn both Kayolan's character and my own into full blown liches. It should help with our survival chances in any future modules.

Well, if you finished a 24-page module in two sessions without taking the shortcut of killing both of your players, you must be running a smooth game. Hats off to you.
