So RPGNow has TOR in a bundle for $15.00
It includes:
(1) TOR RPG (normally $29.99)

Seems like a really, really good deal, but not sure if I would play it or even read it. Is it worth it? Anyone play it or try it? Thanks.
The One Ring Bundle
Re: The One Ring Bundle
All I can tell you is I have bought a lot of the other RPG's done by this company, and I like all of them. Great quality production, sound writing, solid rules. I've been tempted to get their One Ring stuff for a long time now, but have successfully avoided doing so.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: The One Ring Bundle
It is a great game. $15 is a steal! Their mechanics for traveling, fellowships, personality traits, and corruption are simple and very tolkein. The game is not very hackable. It is kind of a one trick poney. It does tolkein and that is it. However, the system is solid and the game focuses on character *creation* as opposed to character generation. There is a legacy system built in so you can pass on experience and knowledge to proteges. Ideally, in a "perfect" campaign, the pc's would begin their adventure just after the events of the hobbit and role play thru the war of the ring and into the 4th age. This would allow for the pc's to start off as one character then pass the mantle 2 or 3 generations. TOR circumvents the agelessness of elves (as they would never age nor decay) by use of the corruption stat, or more appropriately named, the depression stat. In a nut shell, the longer a character spends adventuring, the more burned out they become. In this case, the character retires before their corruption exceeds a certain value, or they adventure until they are possessed by wanderlust or some other affliction and are never seen again.
All in all, the game is worth owning based on merit alone. However, unless you have a tolkein centered group, you will probably never play it. Despite that, I love TOR. It is a great game.

Re: The One Ring Bundle
OK, I bought the PDF's. I was so impressed with what I saw I turned around and ordered the print version plus official dice on Amazon. The best part is I turned around and sent a set of the PDF's to a friend who's birthday was today, and he likes what he is seeing so much he is talking in definite terms about running a game on Roll 20.

Tempting, but so many other things to choose from. Not to mention, I still need C7's Doctor Who 6th and 7th Doctor Sourcebook (print/pdf bundles).

An 8th Dr source book was released today, at least in PDF. No idea about the print version.

Re: The One Ring Bundle
So, I heard. I appreciate the head's up. Of course, I'll wait for the print book and pdf (biy the book-pdf free) bundle. That's one thing I love about C7. I can get it that way at my flgs (sort of local-ish).
Re: The One Ring Bundle
Well last night decided to pick this up...along with World of Greyhawk 1e Box Set and the Planescape Box Set. Haven't had a chance to even look at the stuff yet, but will try to post my thoughts here as I read it.
