LotR elves...how magical are they?

Post by Dristram »

For you Lord of the Rings experts, I'm curious how magical the elves on Middle Earth were. Like what is said about them and the casting of spells or using magic. And does it differ between the elf types.

Thanks!

Well, the Firstborn were able to craft major artifacts. The Palantir come to mind. But their abilites range from that level to crafting powerful weapons and items and a wide knowledge of healing lore.

Great thread & work! I've always love LOTR. (The hobbit was the book that got me to LOVE to read!)

The way you handled magic is perfect, much better than the flawed ways I tried!

Was the info ever PDFed?

I always felt the diferant kinds & strengths was linked to the races. The noldor spent how many thousands of years at the feat of the "gods" so given time can pack quite a punch, sylvan spent the same time hiding in the shadows, fighting goblins & avoiding Morgoth (sp? -sorry I'm a horrid speller) to keep from being twisted themselves so more cunning uses.

The elven races arn't ballanced but wern't in the book either. I also tied the elves (especially Noldor, & the Dunedian) to "fate". This doesn't do much on a simple adventure, but in a long term campaign can be a huge part...

Thanks for the compliments!

Yes, I went into long research both using other game sources, and crossing it with my readings of the various Tolkien books, letters, etc.

I am sorry, but no pdf of it exists, although many of you kind souls are gently pushing me to finish the damn thing (Omote knows ).

I really PROMISE to finish it. Actually, I have written much more, but it is not still in a form I deem good enough for the esteemed fellow crusaders out there.

Cheers,

Antonio

Yes, the Palantiri were possibly forged by Feanor. Much more important are the Silmarils, who played such an important role in the saga of middle earth. They too were forged by Feanor, a Noldor.
