Savage Worlds has done Lahkmar!
Savage Worlds has done Lahkmar!
So if your a fan go to their site and do the pre order. You can DL the book and map PDF's right after. The city map PDF looks pretty darn good, so am looking forward to seeing the print version this Summer.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Yes. Have to get this one. Even DCC has an adventure in this setting. Box set forthcoming.

I've been keeping an eye on that, just this SW version came completely out of left field for me, so I wasn't even aware of it being done until the pre order went up yesterday.tylermo wrote: Even DCC has an adventure in this setting. Box set forthcoming.

I don't remember when Shane Hensley and company officially announced the setting for SW, but it was in their catalog last year at GenCon.

I'm the same way. I hadn't heard anything about the SW version until it came up in a DCC Lankhmar thread somewhere.Treebore wrote:I've been keeping an eye on that, just this SW version came completely out of left field for me, so I wasn't even aware of it being done until the pre order went up yesterday.tylermo wrote: Even DCC has an adventure in this setting. I'm bummed that the preorder doesn't seem to be part of a "bricks and mortor" program, so my local game store can't participate. I have to preorder myself if I want the PDFs.
Anyone done it yet? What do you think? I'm not a big Savage Worlds fan, but I bought all of the SW Solomon Kane books because of the subject and I'll probably do the same for Lankhmar.

The SW System seems pretty cool. I've gotten the old SW Explorer edition and now the new "Deluxe" version, and have had the SW System on Fantasy Grounds 2 for quite sometime. Recently picked up the Deadlands Reloaded content for FG2 (along with some D&D 5e stuff). Eventually I'll get around to playing it.finarvyn wrote: Anyone done it yet? What do you think? But like you Fin, I got the Solomon Kane stuff for SW because of subject. The Solomon Kane Howard stories were pretty interesting. So I'll likely do the same for Lankhmar - both for SW and DCC.
Re: Savage Worlds has done Lahkmar!
SW definitely takes some getting used to. It runs and feels NOTHING like a D20 based system. In fact the only other RPG I know that runs and feels a lot like SW is the CORTEX system Margaret Weiss uses for her RPG's. So if your not used to playing with radically different systems its going to be very challenging for you to get used to and to start liking a system like SW. However, I think its worth the effort. I actually ran Soloman Kane, and it did the "mood" of those stories justice. I also own all of the Deadlands Reloaded, most of Interface Zero, several Weird War books, a couple of Hellfrost books, and others. SW is much liike GURPS in that it has a very wide range of settings done for the system.

I agree. One group I played with tried it and several folks just could not get past the rule system. Oddly, I didn't mind it but it did take some getting used to.Treebore wrote:SW definitely takes some getting used to. It runs and feels NOTHING like a D20 based system.
Re: Savage Worlds has done Lahkmar!
Not to split hairs, I believe Savage Worlds preceded the Cortex system. I did note a few similarities when playing the old Serenity game, as well as Battlestar Galactica.
Re: Savage Worlds has done Lahkmar!
It may have. For me CORTEX came along in my RPG experience long before Savage Worlds did. Well, at least roughly two years before I started playing Savage Worlds, which was entirely your fault at Troll Con.tylermo wrote:Not to split hairs, I believe Savage Worlds preceded the Cortex system.
