Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
For me, they are...
Zneik'rr - Rogue, my first C&C character, played in a one-shot
Lor Raikilgen - Assassin/Wizard, adventured into the Temple of the Frog God
Kordan Urist - Cleric/Druid, adventured into some outer area of Castle Zagyg
Tafizs Nafi - Rogue, journeyed into some dungeon that I can't remember, was knocked unconscious while holding onto some bad guy with a rope
Thirsk - Druid, for a one-shot, saved a village with some kind of staff that he used to summon a gorgon and a manticore. The staff was so powerful, he felt that he could not handle the responsibility of it, and planted it into the center of the village so that it would later grow into a powerful sacred tree.
Madnor Hajile - Wizard, went into some dungeon that was written by a Dragonsfoot user
Dethen Bolrak - Rogue, the only clue I have about the adventure he was in is that one of the other PCs was named "Sir Samual"
Thrak - Half-Orc Monk, retired to serve as the bodyguard for a Druid, he had really low AC although he was also fleet-of-foot
Areceres - Cleric/Knight, I admit that she was written in a really power-gamer way, she contributed to the party a Scroll of Regeneration to restore Argon's lost arm
Bardum - Half-Orc Fighter, probably the first fighter I've ever played in a serious game, I think he was only used for 2 sessions. It was an on-and-off game.
Coker - Human Rogue, got to play for exactly three sessions
I'm noticing a trend in which I didn't get comfortable with playing frontline characters until much later in life, and previously, preferred utility & artillery classes. This may also have something to do with other players tending more towards the simple Fighter.

Re: Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
I have a tremendous pile of characters I've never used, but none of those which are "retired" as I either destroy their character sheet or put them into the next game world as a NPC, depending on whether they were permanently killed or not.
I also possess a huge stack (probably 200 characters) which are merely ideas for a PC I want to play like my elf pompadour (based on Elvis Presley, being a bard-paladin) or a dwarf brewmeister (wizard/alchemist). And so forth. Some of these end up as NPCs, too.

Re: Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
No idea. I have boxes in storage with characters going back into the mists of time, so to speak. Scores I haven't looked at for over 30 years. That doesn't factor in the stacks I've given to new DMs over the years for NPC fodder.
Re: Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
I also have countless printed characters created by PC making software, either ones I wrote as a bored teenager or ones I snabbed off the internet in the early days of snabbing stuff from the internet.
Re: Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
Not counting PCs made but never used, I have about 75 or so that I have played at one time or another. I don't count PCs not played because I, like others here have expressed, enjoy creating various PCs for the fun of creation. I went real crazy with HeroLab and my Pathfinder files.
This does not count the pre-made characters used for various things such as the Dragonlance modules or the pre-made PCs we often used when learning a new system. Not does this count PCs for games not related to a Fantasy. If we count the other systems I would guess maybe another 10 or so.
These are from games that ended for lots of reasons. They range quite a bit both in levels and in race/class combos. But, except for a couple exceptions, I have never played the same PC in different GM's games.

Re: Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
I have dozens, which I typically use as NPC's. The one I have used most prominently in recent years is Ektor the Green Mage. Mine have been all played, though. The rest were created as NPC's, so never got a full write up, since I never needed one.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?
My first C&C character was created in 2005 in a play by post, then play in forum game run by Scott Driver. Rigon was in that game.
Crayloon is a gnome illusionist.
On Dragonsfoot chat, Skathros ran a play by chat game (again with Sir Rigon) where I ran Rigollo Giles Highgate a halfling bard.
I think it was 2007 when I stopped PBP and we all started gaming online (actually thanks to Skathros for getting us started) and along with Treebore, Rigon, nwelte, Aramis, slimy et. al. I have many great characters that I now use in my online games as NPCs
Rigollo
Seamus T. Cuttlefoot
Cedric T. Underpoole
and
Lucius T. Carbuncle
all halfling (although I'm now thinking one may have been a gnome!
)
have appeared in my CZ Upper Works game as the 4 musketeers.
My clerics in some of those games:
Malcolm
Godric
Roland (I think this one died in Rigon's game from a Helm of Brilliance gone haywire!!!]
Hrothgar
Thorin
Jorel
all are NPCs in my last and current game.
I'm sure there are a few more that escape my mind at this moment.
Heh, they will live forever!
Oh yeah ~ Rigon, did I tell you that Roland was resurrected when you weren't looking!!!

Yep, cause you've lost most of it!Rhuvein wrote:I'm sure there are a few more that escape my mind at this moment.
Oh my gosh, how could I forget my PC from Gary's Greyhawk game:
Errol, warrior of the Gnarley Forest!
2nd level elf fighter who is good with his sword.
STR 15
INT 11
WIS 13
CON 15
DEX 14
CHA 8
AC 2
HPs 14
+1 BtH
+1 damage
Hmm, I'll have to dig out some of my other char sheets that I forgot about.
