I started playing in a regular 0D&D game today. I rolled particularly well on my attributes (especially rolling 3d6 in order). The DM gave me a little boost in one attribute so I could play his house ruled bard class. The group is mostly younger kids (20 year olds), but it was fun. They were all looking at me to lead the group with my vast years of experience (at least compared to them). We are trying to figure out another day to play that fits into everyone's schedule. Hopefully, we can play a good bit before all the kids have to go back to college.

In my experience, they always do.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Very cool. I’d love to run a short campaign using the OD&D rules (perhaps with Carcosa added on). There’s something I dig about the limited classes and races and the simplified d6 damage for weapons, though power gamers would hate that.

I recommend Delta's D&D Hotspot Blog for a reference for playing OD&D. His house rules make it simple to run a campaign.

Of the 0e emulations, I really like Delving Deeper: http://www.immersiveink.com/?page_id=20 . Even if you are playing with the LBBs, it's a helpful reference and a good way to learn the game. It's free in PDF and hypertext, and you can buy it in print on Lulu.

And I'll put in a shameless plug for my OD&D Discussion proboards group. It's "the place to be" if you have questions about OD&D or want to discuss that particular edition of the game. There should be a link in my signature for anyone interested.
