Class and a half

Post by AndyMac »

When calculating class and a half XP needed to level, what is the formula? I had been using the table from p.188 of the PHB (6th printing) so a ranger with cleric supporting would need 2251 + (0/2) = 2251 XP to become level 2. He'd have the abilities of a level 2 ranger and a level 1 cleric. For level 5, he would need 18001 +(2251/2) = 19127, and he would have the abilities of a level 5 ranger and level 2 cleric. Is this correct?

The reason I'm asking is that somebody showed me a calculation that I believe is wrong (according to the PHB). Of course, a CK can rule as they see fit, but his calculation seemed extreme to me (the same level 5 ranger/cleric needed 27002 XP).

Thanks in advance.

I brought this same question came up a while ago. I can't remember what we determined. I'll have to look for the discussion and post a link.
